Corporate Health and Safety Specialist POSITION SUMMARY This position supports the development and maintenance of efficient safety programs, processes, and tools designed to promote best-in-class safety and operational performance. The primary focus of this role will be to implement USG safety programs and advance a culture of safety within USG’s Phillips and Clinch-On locations. This is a training assignment designed to prepare the incumbent for future roles in Corporate Safety Management. This position is fully remote with up to 40% travel. Onboarding in the first few months will be in Omaha, Nebraska KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES General Safety Systems Support •Oversee the implementation of USG model programs, other safety programs, and safety training at Phillips/Clinch-On locations. •Work with the safety management team to enhance existing and develop new best-in-class programs, processes, and tools for use across USG locations. •Support the maintenance and promote the use of existing and new safety technology solutions (e.g., CORE, 3E, Open Range, etc.). •Oversee the collection of safety data, including leading indicators, and prepare routine analyses to uncover trends and ensure the proper deployment of safety resources. •Monitor and research potential safety regulatory changes, and recommend actions to ensure continued compliance. Industrial Hygiene •Perform industrial hygiene monitoring associated with routine, follow-up and special testing requirements. •Develop and review IH reports. •Assist in the coordination of the industrial hygiene program overall. Materials Assessment / New Product Development •Support the assessment of new and existing materials through the review and approval process. •Support product development efforts, providing input into process equipment changes and the introduction of new raw materials/additives. Participate in trials and product launch teams as required. Question Handling / Support Request •Answer questions related to USG programs and federal and state regulations. •Provide support to Marketing, Sales, Corporate Communications, and other function in the oversight of photo shoots and review of documentation containing safety content/references. JOB REQUIREMENTS Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: •Ability to interpret and understand OSHA, MSHA, and DOT regulations •High level of comfort with technical information •Experience with industrial hygiene •Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products Preferred: •Functional certification (ASP, CSP, CIH, CSM, etc.) •Understanding of Lean and Six Sigma concepts as applied to safety Physical Demands and Other Requirements •Up to 40% travel •Initial assignment will be in Omaha, NE for up to 4 months. Education and Related Experience •Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced degree preferred •Relevant intern or industry experience in a manufacturing or distribution setting successfully applying safety concepts. Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. USG employees enjoy a number of benefit options for themselves and their families.
