Utilities Maintenance Technician (Day Shift) What this job involves: Oversee and monitor the operation and make adjustments of refrigeration, emergency backup systems and boiler systems; monitors operation, adjusts, and maintains refrigeration, chilled water; boilers, pumps, valves, piping and filters; other mechanical or electrical equipment; record readings and make adjustments where necessary to assure proper operation of equipment. Requires the ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions and take corrective action as required. Required to workday and/or night shifts as required. What your day-to-day will look like: Monitor and maintain critical building systems including refrigeration, boilers, pumps, valves, and mechanical/electrical equipment while recording operational readings and reporting malfunctions. Perform preventive maintenance on all base building and critical systems, including proper documentation, cleanup, and reporting equipment issues or supply shortages to supervisors. Assist with major repairs and maintenance projects alongside other mechanics and operators as needed. Maintain accurate documentation including equipment logs, work order completion, time tracking, and timely communication with Chief Engineer or Supervisor. Demonstrate technical competency in identifying, utilizing, and operating all tools and equipment associated with the mechanical discipline. Work safely in challenging environments including high places, confined spaces, lifts, and scaffolds while wearing required personal protective equipment and completing job hazard analyses. Ensure regulatory compliance with hazardous material handling, state/local codes, and maintain proper documentation of work performance and material procurement. Required Skills and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent and possession of a valid driver's license. Physical capability to lift 50 pounds, bend, and move safely to perform job tasks. Ability to work at heights and perform overhead work using ladders and elevated equipment. Technical skills to operate electric hand tools, required equipment, and motor vehicles safely. Availability for demanding work conditions including confined spaces, 24-hour on-call availability, and all weather conditions. Desired or preferred experience and technical skills: Two years of trade school or hands-on experience with chillers and boilers. Plumbing and electrical systems experience including basic repairs and minor electrical work. Building automation systems knowledge and understanding of their operations. Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical systems using diagnostic tools and equipment. OSHA standards and local codes knowledge for safety and regulatory compliance. Independent work capability with minimal supervision while maintaining quality standards. Customer service and interpersonal skills including teamwork, client interaction, and conflict resolution abilities. Fluent in English with strong oral and written communication skills for reporting purposes. Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and Outlook systems. Location: Bloomington, IN Work Schedule: Work Schedule: • Rotating weekends: Thursday-Sunday / Friday-Sunday • Day Shift: 5:00 AM - 5:30 PM • 12-hour shifts, alternating weekly schedule.
