Please read the full description before applying. We’re looking for a hands-on website operator to help us build new sections and improve key pages of our popular research-based consumer ratings website. This is a part-time, long-term contractor role focused on execution, follow-through, and continuous improvement. It is not a strategy, audit, or agency-style role. This role is for you if you’re an individual contributor who enjoys a steady focus on fixing real pages, improving UX and SEO, and working from a prioritized backlog. You will personally do the work. This is not a delegated role. Our small team of ~20 plus is celebrating our 25th year delivering the most trusted ratings and deep research of local contractors and service companies in America. You’ll work directly with hands-on principals. No committees and politics. Our site is database-driven, fed by FileMaker, and hosted on AWS, so familiarity with real production systems matters. What You’ll Do •Make hands-on, page-by-page SEO optimizations to the site • Build and ship new site sections, page templates, and user flows • Own product dev implementation and UATs • Identify and reduce UX and conversion friction • Improve internal linking, navigation, and user journeys • Project-manage a running list of product, SEO, UX, and content improvements • Monitor performance in GA4, GSC and Clarity, diagnose issues, and fix them directly or drive resolution with the dev team • Coordinate with product, editorial, ratings, dev, and tech SEO leaders Skills & Experience (Practical, Not Academic) • Hands-on experience updating live websites and implementing on-page SEO • Product design experience improving UX and user journeys Advanced practical knowledge of SEO and some experience in LLM-based discovery • Advanced user of GA4, GSC and Microsoft Clarity • Experience owning work from idea → implementation → shipped Engagement Details • Independent contractor, individual contributor • $2,500 per month retainer • Approximately 80 hours per month • Fully remote • Predictable meeting cadence: three afternoons per week and one morning per week (Pacific Time) Who This Role Is For • Loves to get stuff done that measurably improves a website overtime • Thrives on overcoming challenges with creative workarounds • Enjoys steady, practical execution in a small-team environment • Prefers a stable retainer to chasing hourly gigs • Is early-to-mid career Who Should Not Apply This role is for an individual, hands-on operator. You will personally do the work. Agencies, SEO-only specialists, and anyone focused on audits, strategies, or delegated execution should not apply. How to Apply – Application Questions To apply, please include brief, specific answers to the questions below. Short, concrete examples are preferred over polished or generic responses. Required Questions 1) Website Improvement Example Describe one website you personally improved over time (not just a single page). What types of changes did you make across SEO, UX, internal linking, navigation, or structure, and how did the site improve as a result? 2) Execution & Ownership Example Give one example where you owned a list of improvements from idea to shipped. Include how you worked with product and development and how you handled testing or validation. Optional Bonus Question Describe one issue you identified using GA4, GSC, or Microsoft Clarity, and what action you took as a result.
