The Internal Communications Manager will develop and execute communication strategies, oversee internal platforms, and create compelling content to support the university's mission and culture. Responsibilities • Develop and execute internal communication strategies and timelines for key organizational initiatives ensuring messaging is aligned with University priorities and effectively reaches intended audiences. • Oversee and optimize internal communication platforms (including the University’s intranet, internal social media channels, and newsletters), managing content planning, curation, publishing, and distribution lists to deliver timely and accurate information aligned with internal style guidelines. • Create compelling written and visual communications (e.g., news articles, talking points, presentations, infographics, branded collateral) that enhance storytelling, improve audience understanding, and reinforce the University’s culture and student-centered mission. • Proactively identify and share stories that showcase our students, faculty, employees, culture, and values, positioning internal communications as a driver of engagement rather than a reactive function. • Support executive communications, including planning and coordination of Leadership Broadcasts, PowerPoint deck development, student and faculty videos, and post-event recaps. • Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including executive leaders, to align messaging and ensure a consistent employee experience. • Track and analyze communications performance, using data and analytics (e.g., readership, engagement, Viva Engage activity, survey feedback) to demonstrate impact, build dashboards, and recommend data-driven improvements. • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing quality, timelines, and shifting priorities to deliver high-quality results. • Perform other duties as assigned or apparent. Skills • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field AND Five (5) years of progressive experience in a corporate communications department or within a public relations/communications agency, with demonstrated success in developing and executing communications strategies for internal audiences at various levels across an organization • High School Diploma (or GED) and Nine (9) years of experience in a corporate communications department or within a public relations/communications agency that included experience creating content for internal audiences at various levels across an organization • Superior written, verbal, and visual communication skills, including excellent writing, editing, proofreading and storytelling, with a strong command of grammar, AP style, and the ability to convey messages in a clear, engaging and professional tone • Polished, professional executive presence and interpersonal skills, with the ability to confidently partner, influence without direct authority, and advise senior leaders and cross-functional teams • Experience working with major brands and/or within the higher education industry • Proven ability to translate complex business initiatives into compelling, relevant messages for diverse audiences • Highly skilled at managing multiple complex projects simultaneously, balancing competing priorities, and delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines • Graphic design and visual communications expertise (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, PowerPoint, branded collateral, infographics) to enhance storytelling and audience engagement • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills; able to use data and feedback to assess communication impact and inform continuous improvement Company Overview • University of Phoenix is a higher learning education institute that provides both online and classroom tutoring platforms.
