Full Description

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is hiring a Senior Economic Research Analyst. This role involves providing research support on academic and translational projects, developing proprietary regional economic indicators, performing economic and statistical analyses, and collaborating closely with faculty and institute staff to enhance research output and content. Highlights • Identify, clean, and organize data; analyze using statistical software including Stata, SAS, R, and Python. • Perform economic, financial, and econometric analyses and maintain documentation of data and tests. • Conduct literature reviews supporting research papers, white papers, and reports. • Develop, maintain, and disseminate proprietary regional economic indicators and write economic data commentaries. • Collaborate with Kenan-Flagler faculty and support seminars and webinars; co-author research papers. • Train and mentor junior research analysts and manage econometric modeling processes for the American Growth Project. • Lead development of new economic models, including a manufacturing health index, under the Chief Economist's supervision. • Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in economics or related field, proficiency in Stata, and at least one year of experience with R or Python programming. • Preferred candidates have 2-5 years of relevant experience or a master’s degree, strong econometric and analytical skills, and excellent communication abilities. • Position is full-time permanent staff within the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise at UNC Chapel Hill.
