The Office of Research Administration (ORA) at the University of Miami has an enticing job opportunity for a talented and driven Assoc. Director of Research Administration. CORE JOB SUMMARY The Assoc. Director, Research Administration establishes and implements organization’s research policies, objectives, and initiatives, and ensures research activities maintain the University’s competitive position and profitability. The Assoc. Director, Research Administration manages operational and logistical tasks to ensure compliance with budget and timeline restrictions and applicable external regulations and guidelines. CORE JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Authors and works with others to develop publications based on research results. 2. Enlists updates and status reports to senior management on a regular basis. 3. Oversees, trains, and mentors’ staff in assigned departments and prepares performance reports. 4. Partners with other departments to facilitate transparent and accountable research administration and coordinate documentation and approval processes. 5. Facilitates and coordinates receipt and accounting of funds from federal agencies and industry and private foundations. 6. Oversees the preparation and submission of fiscal reports. 7. Maintains effective relationships with federal representatives to facilitate communication and audit of University records. 8. Provides advice regarding proposed legislation and regulatory initiatives. 9. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures. CORE QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required. Experience: Minimum 10 years of relevant experience required. Certification and Licensing: Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strategic Alignment: Skilled in aligning departmental goals with enterprise-wide strategy and develops comprehensive strategic plans. Financial Management: Ensures fiscal responsibility, and optimization of financial performance. Resource Management: Ability to allocate resources and drive innovation and growth. Adaptability: Proven ability to adjust to changes and leads/inspires transformational change. Team Leadership: Ability to build and lead high-performing teams, manage complex projects, and ensure successful project delivery. Technology & Analytics: Understanding of technology, data analytics, and performance measurement to drive strategic decisions and identify opportunities. Communication: Ability to influence others, articulate strategic vision, and ensure clear and persuasive communication.
