Digital Communications Coordinator Office of Communications Part-Time, Contract (Contingent I) Location: Remote Position Overview University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) is seeking a skilled and creative Digital Communications Coordinator to support the development and execution of digital content across multiple platforms. This part-time, contract-based role is ideal for a communications professional with strong writing, editing, and digital media skills who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Key Responsibilities • Strategic Content Development: Draft and edit compelling content for news stories, emails, newsletters, and social media, ensuring alignment with UMGC’s brand voice and communications goals. • Digital Media Production and Platform Management: Design and produce digital assets using Canva; work with the Social Media team to schedule and publish content via Sprout Social; support basic web updates using Adobe Experience Manager (AEM); and perform basic photo and video editing to enhance visual storytelling. • Campaign Coordination and Execution: Maintain content calendars, support cross-channel campaign execution, and assist with community engagement and performance monitoring. Required Skills and Experience • Excellent writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail. • Experience developing content for news, email, and social media platforms. • Proficiency in Canva or similar design tools. • Familiarity with Sprout Social or comparable social media scheduling and analytics tools. • Basic working knowledge of Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). • Ability to perform basic photo and video editing. • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently. Preferred Qualifications • Previous experience in a communications, marketing, or digital media role. • Interest in higher education and mission-driven communications work. Benefits Package Highlights: • Time Off: C1s that regularly work over 12 hours per week are eligible for limited sick and safe leave at the rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum accrual of 40 hours in a calendar year. • Health Coverage: Access to health care, medical with vision, dental, and prescription plans for both individuals and families, effective from the 1st of the month following your hire date. NOTE: CI employees are not eligible for the State of Maryland subsidized rates. The university does not provide matching funds. Hiring Range: $50.00 - $55.00
