The University of Maryland (UMB) School of Dentistry (SOD) is seeking a Marketing & Communications Manager (Lead Marketing Specialist) to develop targeted communications strategies with marketing specifications to increase patient volume, awareness, and school's reputation; lead internal communications; assist with social media initiatives; research and lead communications and logistics for internal and external events; and meet with senior leadership to identify opportunities for growth. Primary Duties: • Assists with short- and long-term marketing and communications planning for the University. Accountable for success of special short- and long-term projects and campaigns that increase the university's exposure and recognition. • Collaborates with department leaders to identify marketing needs and goals, and develops effective, creative, and innovative internal and external strategies to promote various initiatives, programs, or services for the university. • Identifies opportunities using data and best practices, evaluate results, and presents outcomes to key stakeholders. • Leads internal communications strategy, assists with social media initiatives, leads event planning, communications, and logistics, and develops content for university publications. • Works collaboratively with the marketing and communications teams at UMSOD and across campus to ensure alignment. • Defines desired outcomes and deadlines. Facilitates operational effectiveness within the marketing function to ensure projects specifications and defined outcomes are met. • Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications : Education: Bachelor's degree required. Degree in marketing, advertising, communications, journalism, or related field of study is preferred. Experience: Five (5) years of experience in marketing, public relations, communications, media, public, or client relations. Certification/Licensure: N/A. Other: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience. In instances where specific education and/or experience is required only directly related education and/or experience may be substituted. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of position requirements. Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.
