The University of Maine System is seeking a Senior Integration Engineer to serve as a key technical leader within our Data Systems and Integration Team. This senior-level individual contributor designs, develops, and supports enterprise integrations that connect critical administrative systems, analytics platforms, and vendor applications across the System. Using our Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS), Boomi, you will deliver secure, reliable integrations leveraging APIs, file-based data exchange, and event-driven workflows. You will also serve as the primary operational subject matter expert for the integration platform, ensuring performance, stability, and compliance with enterprise architecture and security standards. This role operates under the technical leadership of the Data Engineering Team Lead and collaborates extensively with ERP Services, campus IT teams, Information Security, business stakeholders, and external vendors. The Data Systems and Integration Team (DSIT) is a part of the University of Maine System's Information Technology Enterprise Services department. The DSIT team supports enterprise data services that enable reporting, analytics, data governance, and secure data movement across core university systems. The group works in close partnership with campus stakeholders, enterprise application teams, and information security to deliver reliable, well-governed data services that support institutional operations and decision-making. What You'll Do Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise integrations aligned with architectural and security standards. Serve as the operational owner and platform SME for Boomi, including environment configuration, credential management, scheduling, monitoring, troubleshooting, alerting, error handling, and incident resolution. Ensure integration reliability through proactive monitoring, alerting, error handling, and incident resolution. Analyze and resolve complex cross-system data issues across multiple enterprise platforms. Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate business needs into integration solutions. Develop and maintain technical documentation to support sustainability and knowledge transfer. Mentor and guide integration and data engineering staff. Schedule: The standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. Salary: The hiring range for this position is $72,000 to $82,000 (non-negotiable) and is commensurate with training, education, and experience. Qualifications Required: Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Five to seven years of experience in integration development, integration platforms, API consumption and integration, or related technical roles. Demonstrated experience implementing integrations on an enterprise integration platform. Experience consuming RESTful APIs, SOAP services, JSON/XML processing, and HTTP-based data exchange. Experience with credential management, secure connections, and modern authentication methods. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities, Effective communicator capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Ability to interpret business needs and translate them into integration workflows and technical requirements. Ability to manage multiple assignments and work independently with limited direction. Strong attention to detail and adherence to coding/documentation practices. Ability to work collaboratively in a distributed, matrixed environment. Strong proficiency with integration development, including mapping, transformation, routing, and orchestration. Strong SQL skills and familiarity with relational database structures. Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and vendor API documentation. Strong debudding and root cause analysis skills. Preferred Direct experience with the Boomi integration platform. Experience integrating with systems such as PeopleSoft, CRM platforms, cloud-based SaaS products, data warehouses, identity systems, etc. Experience with job scheduling/orchestration tools. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and DevOps practices. Experience working with large, complex organizations or higher education. Experience supporting cross-functional, enterprise-level integrations. Experience contributing to integration standards or engineering best practices.
