Job Title: UC Cooperative Extension Specialist - Oak Woodland Stewardship Company Overview: The University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) is a statewide network dedicated to bringing practical, science-based solutions to California’s communities. With a focus on sustainable agriculture, natural resource management, and community development, UC ANR supports research, education, and outreach programs that enhance the health and well-being of Californians. Role Overview: As a UC Cooperative Extension Specialist in Oak Woodland Stewardship, you will lead research and outreach efforts to promote sustainable management of oak woodlands. Your work will support landowners, resource managers, and policymakers in conserving these vital ecosystems through science-based practices. What You'll Do: - You will conduct applied research on oak woodland ecology and management. - You will develop and deliver educational programs and materials for diverse audiences. - You will collaborate with stakeholders including landowners, government agencies, and community groups. - You will publish research findings in scientific journals and extension publications. - You will secure funding through grant writing and partnerships. - You will provide expert advice and technical assistance to support sustainable land management. - You will participate in statewide initiatives related to natural resource conservation. - You will mentor students and junior researchers in extension and research activities. What You Bring: - You have a Ph.D. in forestry, ecology, natural resource management, or a related field. - You have at least 3 years of postdoctoral or professional experience in oak woodland or forest ecosystem research. - You possess strong skills in applied research, data analysis, and scientific writing. - You have experience in developing and delivering extension education programs. - You demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - You are proficient in grant writing and project management. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience working with California oak woodland ecosystems. - Established relationships with local landowners and natural resource agencies. - A track record of successful grant funding and publication. - Skills in GIS and remote sensing applications.
