Job Title: UC Cooperative Extension Specialist - Oak Woodland Stewardship Company Overview: The University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) is a leading institution dedicated to advancing agricultural and natural resource management through research, education, and community engagement. Role Overview: As a UC Cooperative Extension Specialist focused on Oak Woodland Stewardship, you will play a critical role in developing and delivering research-based knowledge and practical solutions to support the conservation and sustainable management of oak woodlands. You will collaborate with landowners, stakeholders, and researchers to promote healthy ecosystems and resilient landscapes. What You'll Do: - You will conduct applied research on oak woodland ecology, management practices, and restoration techniques. - You will develop and deliver educational programs, workshops, and outreach materials for landowners, resource managers, and the public. - You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to address challenges related to oak woodland health and sustainability. - You will engage with community stakeholders to foster partnerships and support stewardship initiatives. - You will publish research findings in scientific journals and extension publications. - You will secure funding through grant writing and manage project budgets. - You will provide expert consultation and technical assistance to landowners and agencies. - You will contribute to policy development and advocacy efforts related to oak woodland conservation. What You Bring: - A Ph.D. in forestry, ecology, natural resource management, or a related field. - At least 3 years of postdoctoral or professional experience in oak woodland or forest ecosystem research and extension. - Strong knowledge of oak woodland ecology, restoration, and management practices. - Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and scientific writing. - Proven ability to develop and deliver educational programs and outreach. - Experience in grant writing and project management. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience working with diverse stakeholder groups including private landowners, government agencies, and non-profits. - Familiarity with California’s oak woodland ecosystems and regional conservation challenges. - Skills in GIS and spatial analysis. - A track record of successful interdisciplinary collaboration.
