Job Title: UC Cooperative Extension Specialist - Oak Woodland Stewardship Company Overview: The University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) is a leading institution dedicated to advancing agricultural and natural resource management through research, education, and community engagement. Role Overview: As a UC Cooperative Extension Specialist focused on Oak Woodland Stewardship, you will play a critical role in developing and delivering research-based knowledge and practical solutions to support the conservation and sustainable management of oak woodlands. You will work closely with landowners, resource managers, and stakeholders to promote healthy ecosystems and resilient landscapes. What You'll Do: - You will conduct applied research on oak woodland ecology, management practices, and restoration techniques. - You will develop and deliver educational programs, workshops, and outreach materials for diverse audiences. - You will collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies to align stewardship efforts and policies. - You will engage with landowners, community groups, and stakeholders to assess needs and provide technical assistance. - You will publish research findings in scientific journals and extension publications. - You will secure funding through grant writing and partnership development to support program initiatives. - You will mentor students and support the development of future natural resource professionals. What You Bring: - A Ph.D. in forestry, ecology, natural resource management, or a related field. - At least 3 years of postdoctoral or professional experience in oak woodland or forest ecosystem research and management. - Strong skills in applied research, data analysis, and scientific writing. - Experience in community engagement, extension education, and stakeholder collaboration. - Ability to work independently and as part of interdisciplinary teams. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience working in California’s oak woodland ecosystems. - Established relationships with local landowners, agencies, and conservation organizations. - Proven success in securing competitive grants and managing funded projects. - Skills in GIS, remote sensing, or other spatial analysis tools.
