POSITION PURPOSE The VP, Consumer Loans is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for the Consumer Loans department, with a primary focus on driving loan origination growth, expanding market share, and leveraging technology to enhance the member experience. This role leads the development and execution of innovative lending strategies, digital transformation initiatives, and organization process improvements to maximize profitability and operational efficiency. The VP ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and algins lending activities with organizational goals. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES • Strategic Origination Growth: • Develop and execute strategies to grow consumer loan originations across all channels (direct, indirect, digital, and branch). • Analyze market trends, competitor offerings, and member needs to identify new lending opportunities and product enhancements. • Collaborate with Marketing and Business Development to drive targeted campaigns and partnerships for loan growth. • Technology Enhancement: • Lead the adoption and integration of advanced lending technologies, including digital origination platforms, automation, AI-driven underwriting, and data analytics. • Champion process improvements to streamline application, approval, and funding workflows, reducing cycle times and enhancing member satisfaction. • Evaluate and implement fintech partnerships and third-party solutions to expand origination capabilities. • Product Development & Innovation: • Oversee the design, launch, and optimization of competitive consumer loan products (auto, personal, home equity, credit card, student loans). • Recommend service and product enhancements to maximize lending production and efficiency. • Risk Management & Compliance: • Ensure all lending activities comply with federal and state regulations (TILA, ECOA, etc.) and internal policies. • Develop and manage risk-based lending programs, including portfolio analysis and loan loss prevention strategies. • Leadership & Team Development: • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing origination and underwriting team. • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. • Performance Management: • Set and monitor origination goals, KPIs, and scorecards aligned with strategic objectives. • Provide regular reporting and analysis to senior management on origination performance, market trends, and technology initiatives. • Stakeholder Engagement: • Represent the organization in industry forums, vendor negotiations, and community outreach related to consumer lending. • Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, Finance, Compliance, and Member Experience teams. PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS • Achievement of consumer loan origination growth targets across all channels (direct, indirect, digital, branch), as defined in annual strategic plans. • Successful implementation and adoption of new lending technologies, digital platforms, and automation solutions, measured by improved application cycle times, member satisfaction scores, and operational efficiency. • Delivery of innovative consumer loan products and enhancements, tracked by product launch timelines, market penetration, and portfolio growth. • Compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies, evidenced by audit results, risk assessments, and timely completion of required reporting. • Development and execution of targeted marketing and partnership campaigns, measured by campaign ROI, lead conversion rates, and expanded market share. • Effective leadership and development of origination and underwriting teams, assessed through employee engagement scores, retention rates, and achievement of team KPIs. • Timely and accurate reporting of origination performance, technology initiatives, and market trends to senior management. • Active participation in industry forums, vendor negotiations, and cross-functional collaboration, contributing to organizational visibility and strategic partnerships. • Continuous improvement of lending processes and member experience, demonstrated by process optimization metrics and member feedback. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent years of related work experience; specialized training in consumer lending, digital transformation, or fintech partnerships. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Deep understanding of consumer lending products, origination systems, digital lending platforms, lending product developments, and regulatory requirements. Knowledge of AI, automation, and data analytics in lending. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in consumer lending, with at least 5 years in management roles. Proven track record of driving loan origination growth and leading technology-driven transformation. SKILLS/ABILITIES: • Strategic planning, project management, and change leadership. • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. • Proficiency with digital lending platforms, CRM, and Microsoft Office Suite.
