Optum is seeking an experienced health care professional who can leverage broad industry experience and expertise to develop, sell, and deliver pharmacy consulting services grounded in Optum’s unique actuarially-focused approach. The Senior Director will sell and execute across our Payer, PBM, Life Sciences, and Specialty Pharmacy client segments. This role requires sales and consulting expertise and the ability to lead other subject matter experts. Critical to this role is the ability to communicate effectively with our clients’ mid- and senior-level executives and to develop market-differentiating client relationships. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities: Achieve major business objectives, including Business Development, Team Contribution, Role Competency, and Utilization Lead growth and innovation of service offerings that lead to client satisfaction Develop and sell actuarial/pharmacy consulting opportunities regarding education, analytics, business strategy and tactics Work with and direct others to identify and solve relevant business problems and opportunities Provide thought leadership on healthcare topics Identify emerging market topics and their impact to clients Lead the delivery of consulting projects that may include healthcare cost analysis, optimization of performance, quality measures, coverage strategies, treatment outcomes, financial assessments, total cost of care, and policy analyses Assure high quality client deliverables Provide coaching and mentoring to less senior consultants and analysts You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: Pharmacy degree and licensure 15+ years of hands-on experience working in the pharmacy field Staff management experience Excellent client management and relationship development expertise P&L experience and/or significant benefit design and contracting strategy Demonstrated agility across multiple lines of business Demonstrated ability to solve complex business and clinical challenges Ability to speak publicly on current industry issues Willing to travel at least 20%25 of the time (i.e., at least one night per week on average) *All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy. The salary for this role will range from $156,400 to $268,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
