We’re seeking a Principal Data Analyst to join our dynamic and growing team at Optum Health Analytics. In this role, you’ll lead efforts to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of healthcare data while designing and maintaining data pipelines, models, and quality checks in a Snowflake environment. You’ll collaborate with engineers and business stakeholders to deliver actionable insights, solve complex data challenges, and enable scalable analytics. Advanced SQL expertise, solid problem-solving skills, and experience with data warehousing are essential. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into our Snowflake environment Create and maintain data models and schemas for various data sources and ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity Develop and maintain automated data quality checks and data monitoring processes to identify and resolve data issues Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications Support Key Operating Metrics data structures and process for Optum Health leadership team Perform data analysis to identify business problems and deliver value Problem solve and troubleshoot issues independently and as a part of a team Key Deliverables & Success Metrics: Enable scalable analytics through robust data asset creation across practice management systems Communicate key findings, issues, discrepancies with team in concise actionable formats Identify and resolve data quality issues of raw practice management data and its impacts on operations You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: 5+ years of experience working on a data analytics teams Knowledge of data warehousing concepts Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing concepts and ETL processes Advanced proficiency in SQL (writing complex queries, managing stored procedures, optimizing query performance, etc.) Proven problem-solving skills; the ability to systematically analyze problems, draw relevant conclusions and devise appropriate courses of action Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Epic Clarity database or other EMR system experience Knowledge of the following tools: Snowflake Platform, Azure Data Factory, Power BI and Github Proven excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills *All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
