As a Manager of Regulatory Affairs, you will lead a team of regulatory professionals who analyze new regulatory requirements, work closely with the business to understand the impact and obligations of those requirements, and support the business in understanding the evolving regulatory landscape. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. Primary Responsibilities: Monitor new state and federal laws and regulations and identify those that may be applicable to assigned lines of business Review and draft analysis of complex regulatory changes and identify potential impact to assigned business segments Communicate and serve as a subject matter expert on new regulatory requirements and complex regulatory issues for business partners and Regulatory Affairs team members Lead a team of regulatory affairs professionals to support assigned Optum businesses, including financial services and behavioral health Provide oversight on regulatory implementations to ensure compliance measures are met Interact with individuals across all levels of the organization, developing relationships to ensure effective communication and cooperation, and serving as a key strategic partner on complex regulatory issues Identify and implement opportunities to improve and streamline the team’s processes and workflows You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: 5+ years of experience working in the healthcare or health insurance industry in a regulatory, compliance or related role Proven solid analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple important deliverables Proficient use of legal research tools (e.g., Lexis/Nexis and StateNet) Proven ability to research, interpret and analyze complex state and federal laws and regulations Proven written and presentation skills Experience directly managing a team in a regulatory or compliance setting Proven ability to collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Regulatory Adherence, and business partners from across the organization to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements Preferred Qualifications: Paralegal certificate, or equivalent experience Knowledge of behavioral health regulations, provider/network regulatory requirements, and/or financial services industry Experience using technology to support regulatory affairs work including artificial intelligence (AI) tools to augment work when appropriate while adhering to Optum’s stringent Responsible Use of AI standards Proven ability to review work performed by others and provide recommendations for improvement Experience using the Archer eGRC application *All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy. The salary for this role will range from $89,900 to $160,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
