Reporting to the Director, Data Strategy & Stewardship, the Lead Digital Product Manager is responsible for translating our data strategy into tangible products, capabilities, and experiences that enable trusted, high-quality data across the Experience Data Platform. Embedded with one or more engineering pods, this role focuses on the end-to-end product lifecycle for data management capabilities—spanning sourcing, transformation, storage, publishing, and governance—so that marketing, analytics, AI, and other stakeholders can confidently use consumer data to drive outcomes. The Lead Digital Product Manager actively owns and evolves one or more data product areas (e.g., data quality, data governance, security, data operations). This includes shaping the product vision and roadmap, leading discovery with business partners, defining requirements, and prioritizing work in collaboration with the assigned pods and broader Engineering teams, as well as measuring adoption and value. The role partners closely with Architecture, Engineering, and business stakeholders to ensure that solutions are impactful, feasible, and compliant. This role requires advanced product management skills, comfort with complex data environments, and the ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences. The Lead Digital Product Manager independently leads complex initiatives, owns one or more data product areas end-to-end, and serves as the primary product counterpart to the assigned pods while collaborating with cross-functional and executive stakeholders to drive decisions. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. Primary Responsibilities: Act as an enterprise connector, driving proactive and cross functional collaboration with Security, Privacy, Governance, Architecture, and Strategic Platform partners Drive and maintain the cross-capability product roadmap for assigned data capabilities (e.g., data quality, governance, security, data operations) in alignment with the overall data management strategy, while integrating pod-level and adjacent roadmaps into a unified Experience Data Platform roadmap with clear sequencing, dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs. Lead cross product planning sessions with platform partners (AEP, MDP, Activation, API teams) to ensure alignment across interconnected roadmaps Lead early-stage scope, complexity, and effort assessments for new platform and cross team initiatives, developing intake ready problem definitions and solution options while representing Data Strategy & Stewardship in discovery and planning forums to ensure data requirements are identified early Partner with Strategic Platform Leads, Architecture, and Engineering to ensure pod solutions align to enterprise data models, AI readiness, metadata standards, and performance/cost targets, while driving solution optioning (good/better/best), complexity analysis, and enterprise wide trade off recommendations Collaborate with stakeholders to design and deliver accessible, secure, and scalable data solutions that support marketing, analytics, and AI use cases Apply analytics, automation, and AI/ML where appropriate to improve data quality and operational efficiency Serve as product owner for Experience Data engineering pods, maintaining backlogs and sprint plans while partnering with Engineering and Architecture to prioritize work for impact, feasibility, risk, and compliance Translate business needs and data strategy into clear features, user stories, and acceptance criteria for the assigned pods and other delivery teams Oversee and maintain the product backlog for assigned data capabilities; make trade-off and reprioritization decisions based on team capacity, stakeholder input, and strategic priorities Partner across team to track product metrics, including data quality, adoption, performance, and business value; analyze results, share insights with stakeholders, and use findings to refine roadmaps and data-driven strategies Contribute to the definition and enforcement of data quality, lineage, cost, and compliance standards Communicate product vision, plans, and progress to leadership and stakeholders in a clear, concise, and compelling way Serve as a go-to expert in the assigned product space; mentor and coach junior product managers, providing feedback on deliverables and guidance on product practices Partner to lead development of a unified communication and stakeholder engagement plan that consolidates updates across pods and clearly articulates roadmap progress, risks, and business impacts Ensure feature documentation, release notes, and capability updates produced by pod level teams are organized, consistent, and integrated into a single, cross capability communication framework Oversee the structure, accuracy, and consistency of the Experience Data knowledge center; define documentation standards and ensure updates are completed across teams ahead of major releases Perform other duties as assigned You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: 6+ years of demonstrated Product Owner experience in Agile/Scrum (or equivalent), including end-to-end delivery, backlog ownership, and sprint planning in complex environments Experience serving as Product Owner for an embedded engineering pod (or equivalent), driving prioritization and managing delivery trade-offs Experience building and managing roadmaps for platform or data capabilities, including discovery through delivery Experience translating business needs and user insights into epics, user stories, and clear acceptance criteria Experience partnering across Architecture, Engineering, and business stakeholders to deliver platform capabilities Experience coordinating cross-domain dependencies and execution while maintaining alignment to platform priorities Working knowledge of data management and governance concepts (e.g., data quality, lineage/metadata, access controls, and compliance) Proven solid analytical and problem-solving skills, using data and metrics to assess performance, diagnose issues, and inform decisions Proven solid written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to drive alignment across technical and non-technical teams and deliver executive-ready updates Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities while maintaining delivery focus and accountability Preferred Qualifications: Hands-on experience with modern cloud data and analytics platforms (e.g., Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, Power BI/Tableau, Adobe Experience Platform) Experience supporting enterprise-scale consumer data platforms and data domains (e.g., ingestion, transformation, publishing) Experience analyzing and synthesizing quantitative and qualitative inputs to inform roadmap priorities, identify risks/opportunities, and recommend actions Experience using product and delivery tooling (e.g., Aha!, Rally, or similar) to manage work, dependencies, and delivery reporting Experience mentoring and coaching other product managers and/or influencing product practices across a team Familiarity leveraging AI-enabled tools to accelerate analysis, reporting, and/or product workflow (e.g., automated insights, anomaly detection, AI-assisted documentation) *All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
