About the USA Diving Foundation The USA Diving Foundation is the philanthropic arm of USA Diving, the national governing body for the sport of Olympic diving in the United States. The Foundation exists to secure and steward private support that advances the sport at all levels — from grassroots discovery to elite high-performance pathways — and ensures that U.S. divers have the resources, visibility, and opportunities needed to excel on the world stage. The Foundation is entering a period of strategic growth, expanding donor engagement, elevating national visibility, and building long-term financial stability. The Executive Director will serve as the Foundation’s first full-time leader and will play a pivotal role in establishing a strong, sustainable, high-performing organization. Position Summary The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for providing leadership, vision, and operational management for the USA Diving Foundation. This role includes fundraising strategy and execution, board engagement, financial oversight, external relations, and the development of systems and structures that support a maturing national foundation. The ED serves as the primary liaison between the Foundation and USA Diving, ensuring alignment on mission, goals, and priorities. This position reports to the USA Diving Foundation Board of Directors. Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Leadership & Organizational Development • Lead the development and implementation of the Foundation’s multi-year strategic plan. • Build the operational and administrative infrastructure required for a high-functioning national foundation. • Establish policies, procedures, and workflows that support governance, finance, communications, donor relations, and program delivery. • Develop an annual operating plan and report on progress regularly to the board. 2. Fundraising & Development • Design and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy that includes major gifts, annual giving, corporate partnerships, foundation grants, legacy giving, special events, and campaigns. • Build and maintain a pipeline of individual, corporate, and institutional donors. • Cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects and donors. • Develop donor communications, impact reports, and events that elevate engagement and retention. • Coordinate national fundraising initiatives in collaboration with USA Diving leadership. 3. Board Relations & Governance Support • Serve as the primary staff partner to the Foundation Board of Directors. • Prepare board materials, reports, and strategic recommendations. • Support the work of board committees (development, finance, governance, etc.). • Guide board development, onboarding, and ongoing engagement. • Ensure strong communication, alignment, and transparency. 4. Financial Management & Compliance • Develop and manage the Foundation’s annual budget. • Ensure strong financial controls, accurate reporting, and compliance with federal and state nonprofit regulations. • Work with the Board Treasurer and Finance Committee on audits, filings, and financial planning. • Oversee contract management, legal compliance, and risk mitigation. 5. External Relations & Partnerships • Represent the Foundation in all public, donor, and partner settings. • Build relationships with national and regional philanthropic partners, sponsors, community organizations, and USA Diving stakeholders. • Strengthen visibility and credibility across the Olympic movement and nonprofit sector. • Support strategic communications, media outreach, and brand-building initiatives. 6. Program Alignment & Impact • Ensure philanthropic investments effectively support athlete development, high-performance initiatives, safety, education, community engagement, and other priority programs identified by USA Diving. • Establish clear metrics and evaluate impact through data-driven reporting. • Communicate outcomes and success stories to donors and stakeholders.
