Program Coordinator Schedule: 20 to 25 hour per week/ In-Person/ STATEN ISLAND, NY Job Type: Part Time Pay Type/ FLSA Status: Hourly/ Non-Exempt Reports To: Program Director Learn & Earn and Assistant Director of Workforce Development Department: Learn & EarnWorkforce Development Pay Rate: $28-$30 per hour (*based on city, state and/ or federal contractual obligations and budgetary allowances) ABOUT UNITED ACTIVITIES UNLIMITED: Staten Island, NY; United Activities Unlimited, Inc. EOE POSITION SUMMARY: The Program Coordinator for the Learn and Earn program reports directly to the Program Director. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating a variety of activities related to college and post-secondary readiness. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for the organization of activities and experiences such as: mentoring, internships, academic support, cultural experiences etc. The position requires a self-motivated, self-starter who believes in the benefits of career and / or educational development for youth across various demographics, including underrepresented participants. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Included but not limited to): ● Research, plan and coordinate, programming, including the implementation of program activities. ● Host and/ or setting up to provide support, on-site workshops with participants, approximately once a week. Includes but is not limited to, conducting activities for a balanced program of instruction, presentation, and work time that provides youth with opportunities to learn, observe, question, investigate, and act. ● Support college/career services by counseling students and their parents on post-secondary options and guiding their development of job and college search skills. ● Identify, navigate, and contribute new information, anecdotes, and opportunities to shape meaningful and critical discussion, call attention to other approaches, and answer specific questions raised by youth. ● Collaborate with Program Director and host school partner(s) to guide and inform content development and modifications. ● Lead preparation and delivery of enrichment and additional engagement activities, including parent engagement, service opportunities, events, internships and college tours; ● Build and develop systems designed to support youth transitions from high school to higher education and/or employment. ● Participate in internal planning meetings, Workforce Leadership meetings and professional development activities. ● Coordinate and work with community partners to provide holistic services by providing support and resources to participants. ● Coordinate with SYEP team to promote summer opportunities to eligible students and increase SYEP applications from partner schools. ● Provide support school year work experiences and educational opportunities as needed. ● Ensure all programmatic administrative and deliverables needs are met. ● Maintain regular communication with staff and management. ● Assist with any other departmental duties and projects as needed. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: ● Associate’s Degree, required ● 3+ years of work experience with high aged based youth or supporting workforce development programs ● Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of hire ● Strong working knowledge using Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint and the GSuite platforms ● Willing and able to take initiative and allow for a flexible work schedule; occasional weekends ● Strong problem solving skills and ability to thoughtfully and accurately assess and respond to individual needs ● Excels working in a teamwork based environment to achieve objectives and outcomes while demonstrating the ability to work independently ● Demonstrates an understanding of and values individuals’ different capacities, cultures, and abilities ● Respect for diverse racial, socio-economic, ethnic, academic, religious, and cultural backgrounds and identities PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision and hearing abilities are required by this job as outlined below. ● Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need. ● Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc. ● Position is in a well-lighted office environment. ● Involves sitting approximately 80% percent of the day, walking or standing the remainder. ● Must be able to remain in a stationary position for at least 50% of the time. ● May include travel to a variety of locations, based on programming needs. Which is reimbursed in accordance with UAU’s fiscal policies and procedures ● May include working prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer. ● The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. ● The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet or more of the observer).
