Position Summary: The Global Medical Communications Lead will develop and execute the medical communications strategy for approved products or investigational programs for Ultragenyx’s rare disease portfolio, and within the Global Medical Affairs organization. This role ensures that data generated across clinical, real-world, and HEOR studies are accurately, consistently, and effectively communicated across audiences and channels. The individual will collaborate/align cross-functionally with stakeholders including Global Medical Leads, Publications, Medical Information, HEOR, regional medical teams, and other medical and cross-functional partners to deliver high-quality, robust, and timely scientific content to support education, engagement, and readiness across all stages of development and commercialization. ultrainnovative – Tackle rare and dynamic challenges Work Model: Remote: Officially documented as working full-time from home, with travel to Ultragenyx's offices or other locations on occasion as needed. Responsibilities: Develop and implement the program-level medical communications plan aligned with the global integrated evidence plan (IEP), brand strategy, and launch/medical objectives. Lead the development and updates of the core scientific narrative in collaboration with external vendors and internal stakeholders, globally and regionally. Lead the development and updates of medical communications deliverables including product/program Q&As/talking points, disease and program slide decks, and other medical content deliverables. Support congress strategy and lead the creation and execution of Medical Affairs congress deliverables, including symposia content, booth materials, and post-congress summaries. Partner with the Publications team to ensure alignment of publication outputs with the medical narrative and evidence dissemination plan. Collaborate with Medical Information and other Medical Affairs colleagues to ensure consistency and scientific accuracy across standard response documents, medical education training, field medical materials, and other medical deliverables. Ensure that medical communications deliverables reflect current data, adhere to scientific and compliance standards, and align with global messaging. Manage external Medical Communications vendors to ensure quality, compliance, and fiscal discipline and take ownership of timelines to ensure on-time delivery of all materials. Capture scientific insights and competitive intelligence from congresses and other sources into actionable updates for the Global Medical Lead and cross-functional partners. Serve as a key contributor to launch readiness, ensuring the organization is scientifically prepared for internal and external engagement. Requirements: Advanced degree in a scientific or medical field (PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent). 6-10 years of experience in medical communications, scientific publications, or related Medical Affairs roles, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry. Proven experience in developing scientific narratives, slide decks, and congress materials. Strong understanding of clinical development and data interpretation, including ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate complex data into clear and concise, audience-appropriate messages. Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a fast-paced, matrixed environment; ability to lead multiple therapeutic areas concurrently. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong project management and organizational abilities. Experience managing external agencies and vendors. Ability to travel domestically and internationally (~20%). #LI-CS1 #LI-Remote The typical annual salary range for this full-time position is listed below. This range reflects the characteristics of the job, such as required skills and qualifications and is based on the office location noted in this job posting. The range may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location. This position is eligible for annual bonus and equity incentives. Actual individual pay is determined by demonstrated experience and internal equity alignment.
