THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE: The Sr Manager, Merchandising Strategy is responsible for leading advanced analytics and aggregating cross-functional insights that proactively inform and help shape strategic priorities for our largest category, Cosmetics. Working directly with the SVP, VP, and DMMs, she/he will drive ongoing dialogue around category strategies and partner with FP&A, Analytics, Merchandising Planning & Inventory, Corporate Strategy, and other groups to provide holistic insights on business performance and future opportunities to drive growth and profitability. In addition, she/he will lead Category Performance Improvement (CPI) efforts and brand terms negotiations to drive financial gains through funding margin. YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS BY: Lead advanced analytics and aggregation of cross-functional insights, working directly with SVP Merchandising, Cosmetics to influence and develop strategies for Ulta Beauty’s largest category Drive the activation of category strategies, tracking progress with clear success metrics Manage key, cross-functional strategic partnerships across Merchandising, Marketing, Consumer Insights, Corporate Strategy, Finance, etc. to collaborate on and activate category strategies Evolve strategic frameworks and enhance analytics through a rigorous data-driven and fact-based approach, seamlessly incorporating internal and external data sources to maximize the ROI on strategies and drive adoption across teams Lead program design and cross-category management of Category Performance Improvement (CPI), working directly with merchant teams on brand terms negotiations that meet and exceed financial targets for funding margin Translate complex ideas into clear, compelling messages to influence and communicate effectively to all levels and departments across the organization Create effective PowerPoint presentations that include influential data points and easy to interpret data visualizations (graphs/charts) to effectively convey strategic opportunities Present in large group settings and elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, to gain buy-in and influence strategic direction Lead the automation of processes and design new ways to analyze data within Excel/Access or other analytical tools such as Tableau THE ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS: Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of experience in retail and/or strategy consulting with analytical roles and increasing responsibility; MBA a plus Comfort performing complex analyses (leveraging multiple data sources) to generate data-driven insight and recommendations Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills with outstanding attention to detail Inquisitive nature and proactive approach to data exploration and opportunity identification Ability to manage ambiguity and use business savvy and strategic thinking to determine the best approach forward Proven strength in influencing and gaining credibility with senior leaders and cross-functional team members Highly organized with the ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize workload and appropriately escalate when necessary Strong executive presence and communication skills, with ability to communicate complex topics in a simple and effective manner High degree of initiative, autonomy and optimism Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required Intermediate data visualization skills required (Tableau preferred) Previous experience with market measurement, such as Nielsen, IRI, NPD, Euromonitor a plus The pay range for this position is $119,300.00 - $175,000.00 / Year with the opportunity for eligible associates to earn additional compensation pursuant to the Company’s bonus plan. Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business and organizational needs.
