Twin Cities In Motion, is looking for a full-time Content Manager & Brand Journalist who believes in our nonprofit mission and is driven by community engagement and impact. This hybrid role combines strategic content leadership, hands-on writing and live-event storytelling. The ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of journalism, marketing, and community building—crafting compelling stories, managing editorial operations, and producing multimedia content that amplifies TCM’s mission. Twin Cities In Motion is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit that organizes 5 race events and with several distances throughout the year, including the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: CONTENT STRATEGY • Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy aligned with TCM’s key strategies, brand and mission to inspire motion in the community • Lead the tactics and execution of the content strategy, including the writing, production and distribution of e-newsletters, blog, event and program marketing communications, messaging that supports TCM business operations and mission, and event informational messaging • Grow audiences and funding by developming TCM’s content-based products, building creative media partherships, and advancing sustainable monetization strategies • Create high-quality, engaging, and SEO/GEO-friendly content across blogs, newsletters, websites, social media, video and live coverage • Manage the editorial calendar, ensuring timely and relevant storytelling that resonates with both local and national audiences • Monitor KPIs, web analytics, and audience insights to measure effectiveness and refine strategy EDITORIAL LEADERSHIP & STORYTELLING • Write and produce original articles, features, human interest stories and multimedia pieces centered on Minnesota’s active lifestyle community • Serve as the principle copywriter for TCM’s public-facing messaging • Build, nurture and manage relationships with local reporters, media outlets, and influencers to extend reach and visibility • Lead and manage a team of freelance writers and contributors, assigning stories, providing feedback, and ensuring brand voice consistency • Copy-edit content for AP style and organizational tone • Conduct research, interviews, and industry analysis to inform story development MEDIA & COMMUNICATIONS • Develop a media strategy to grow earned media coverage • Lead the execution of the media strategy in partnerhip with third-party PR agency • Build, nurture and manage relationships with local reporters, media outlets, and influencers to extend reach and visibility • Field all media inquiries and requests • Implement and manage crisis communications plans • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Marketing and Brand Strategy to shape TCM’s communications strategy and develop the overall departmental annual calendar, ensuring alignment with the editorial calendar under role management LIVE EVENT PRODUCTION • Serve as Producer for Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Live, coordinating production crews, on-air talent, and marketing distribution • Hire and manage all vendors to support the live show production • Determine and manage the live show budget Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications or related field • Minimum 5 years of experience in content strategy, editorial creation and management, or multimedia production • Proven ability to craft SEO/GEO-friendly content across digital platforms • Skilled in multimedia production (writing and editing, visual asset support) • Strong leadership and project management skills, including editorial calendar planning and oversight • Experience with CMS platforms, analytics tools and social media publishing • Ability to manage budgets and lead key organizational strategies • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to engage diverse community voices • Work in collaboration to engage potential funders and partners • Passion for fitness and healthy living, especially in the Twin Cities region Preferred Qualifications: • 3 years of experience in Content Management • Strong on-camera presence and ability to serve as a public-facing ambassador • Strong knowledge of content distribution channels and UX principles • Ability to analyze data, recognize trends, and adjust strategies based on tech stack tools like Hubspot, Google Analytics, etc. • efficient with an ability to meet deadlines • An outgoing personality and experience working in a team-oriented environment encouraging open collaboration • Ability to work in a fast-paced, continually changing environment • Proficient in MS Office Suite, and familiar with Windows Operating systems • Ability to regularly lift weights for events up to 25 lbs. and occasionally weights up to 40 lbs. • Ability to travel in and around Minneapolis/St. Paul area • Ability to work flexible monthly event-based hours, including evenings and weekends Reports to: Sr. Director of Marketing & Brand Strategy Status: Full-Time, exempt, hybrid work environment with mandatory in-office days/weeks Salary: $59,000 to $62,000 per year Benefits: Twin Cities In Motion offers a competitive benefits
