Description The Donor Relations Manager/Major Gift Officer solicits, cultivates, and stewards donor relationships based on major gift strategy of building 1:1 relationship with the goal of moving donors to a higher level of engagement and an increase in major gifts year over year. Responsible for completing tasks and projects that support and maintain the fulfillment of the ministry's mission & eight key values, and the efficient & accountable stewardship of ministry resources. 1. 1. Manages a caseload capacity of approximately 150 qualified donors (60%) a. Cultivates donor relationships by updating, appreciating, and asking major donors to deepen their financial partnership b. Solicits and closes gifts from major donors c. Executes strategy through in-person, phone, email, text, and mailed communication d. Understands OCRM programs and projects and effectively communicates the mission to donors e. Conducts oneself in a professional, friendly, and truthful manner to donors, maintaining appropriate boundaries with donors to advance the mission of Orange County Rescue Mission and not for personal gain or benefit 2. 2. If given a new pool of unqualified donors, will qualify a pool of 450 donors to build an initial caseload of 150 qualified donors and continually qualify new donors as caseload space becomes available (10%) 3. 3. Updates the CRM database with call notes and new information about donors (20%) 4. 4. Researches, identifies, and promotes handling high-capacity donors to the appropriate OCRM contact (5%) 5. 5. Meets with the Director of Development (DOD) and Chief Development Officer (CDO) on a bi-monthly basis for accountability and to discuss strategy and moves (5%) Key Performance Indicators: 1. 1. Caseload revenue growth of an average of 10% yearly based on donor engagement and interests. 2. 2. As part of the relationship-building and engagement process, for all of Tier A and the majority of Tier B assigned donors: a. Identify donors' communication preferences b. Identify donors' passions and interests c. Create a personalized 12-month donor relations strategic plan, using the approved fiscal year's donor relations strategic plan d. Track donors' frequency of giving and typical months of giving e. Identify if donors prefer capital over program, expansion over general operations f. Learn how the donor first got involved with OCRM and what inspires them to continue to give g. Learn what church donors attend and their career(s) are/were. 3. 3. Conduct regular face-to-face meetings 4. 4. Serve as project lead or assist on at least three donor touchpoints throughout the year 5. 5. Execute a minimum of 12-15 annual touchpoints to all caseload donors 6. 6. Solicit all caseload donors on an annual basis 7. 7. Secure matching gift commitments to support fundraising campaigns, at least two per fiscal or calendar year. 8. 8. Maintenance of the "BoB" (Book of Blessings) caseload tool with a perpetual goal of 100% data hygiene. This position is full-time with a schedule of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. Requirements Education: Bachelor's Degree (BA) Experience: 3-5 yrs job related work experience. Communication Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques and styles. Math Skills: Intermediate: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages. Reasoning: High Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Works closely with the Chief Development Officer and Director of Development in the management and fulfillment of a customized donor communications plan, including individual fundraising goals and personalized strategies, to effectively steward, educate, cultivate, and solicit gifts from major donors each fiscal year, with an emphasis on gifts of $3,000 accumulative for the year and higher. 2. Meets regularly with the Development Director, other MGOs, and other Mid-Level Officers to discuss and refine plans and donor strategies, track progress, receive coaching, keep open lines of communication, and discuss schedules. 3. Supports and contributes to, as requested by the Development Director, overall policies and strategies to continually increase significant gifts revenue and program growth. 4. Manages relations with an average of 150 major donors, following the strategic plan specific to each donor and prospect while always being responsive and attentive to each donor's interests. 5. Manages information and activity with their assigned donors through the provided tool (e.g., Book of Blessings aka BOB), including but not limited to regular customized touchpoints, giving history, communication preferences, and identified passions and interests. 6. Confidently arrange and take donors on-site visits to tour the Village of Hope, the Double R Ranch, and OCRM programs, attend special events, and facilitate face-to-face meetings with donors and OCRM leadership. 7. Manages and maintains updated Salesforce CRM donor database records documenting all donor interactions, including tracking correspondence, phone calls, in-person visits, and gift acknowledgments. 8. Ensures prayerful attention to donors through accessibility to programs and leadership, timely responsiveness, quality in all interactions and personalized communications. 9. Works diligently to meet needed monthly and annual fundraising and contributed income goals, and is purposeful about every donor "touch." 10. Provides important updates to leadership and management regarding all significant donor engagement. 11. Follow donor contact protocols to ensure that donors contact the Donor Relations Manager through OCRM-approved methods. Donors should not contact managers directly on personal cell phones. 12. Leads in 1:1 solicitation, gift acknowledgment, and stewardship communication, traveling as necessary, establishing and maintaining excellent donor relations, providing written proposals to major gift prospects as needed, and including OCRM leadership as appropriate. 13. Mission-driven toward goals and focused on their major donor portfolio, but makes effective use of volunteerism opportunities, events, and other initiatives to engage with assigned donors, to bring them closer to OCRM, and deepen their awareness of the impact of the programs, especially in areas of their interests and passions. 14. Enthusiastically collaborates with and supports volunteers, development staff, and other representatives to cultivate and solicit donors for OCRM-wide priorities. 15. Conducts oral presentations clearly and professionally to service clubs, groups, and churches assigned and to potential donors in both small group and large audience settings, effectively communicating the mission, impact, and needs of OCRM. 16. Lead or assist on projects and/or activities as needed in the Development Department. 17. Maintains a clean, safe, and unobstructed workplace.
