Job Description: Email Server Maintenance Technician (Contractor) Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Email Server Maintenance Technician on a contract basis to provide ongoing support and maintenance for our email server infrastructure. This is an as-needed basis position with a maximum commitment of 4 hours per week. The role focuses on proactive monitoring, rapid issue resolution, and ensuring seamless email operations for our organization. Key Responsibilities • Find and implement solutions for email server issues, including configuration problems, connectivity failures, and performance bottlenecks. • Fix errors promptly, such as authentication failures, spam filter misconfigurations, delivery delays, and security vulnerabilities. • Ensure the server is running smoothly by performing routine maintenance tasks, including updates, backups, log monitoring, and optimization. • Monitor server health, uptime, and resource usage to prevent disruptions. • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents related to email protocols (e.g., SMTP, IMAP, POP3), user access, and integration with other systems. • Document all maintenance activities, fixes, and recommendations for future reference. • Collaborate with IT team members as needed for escalated issues. Requirements • Proven experience maintaining email servers (e.g., Microsoft Exchange, Postfix, Sendmail, Zimbra, or similar). • Strong knowledge of Linux/Windows server administration, networking, DNS, and email security best practices (e.g., SPF, DKIM, DMARC). • Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Bash, PowerShell) for automation and troubleshooting. • Excellent problem-solving skills with a track record of quickly diagnosing and resolving complex issues. • Ability to work independently in an on-call, as-needed capacity. • Availability for occasional urgent tasks outside standard hours (compensated accordingly). Work Arrangement • Contract/As-Needed Basis: Maximum 4 hours per week, $22-25 per hour. • Remote work preferred; occasional on-site support may be required. • Flexible scheduling to align with business needs.
