We’re expanding our web development team and looking for a Mid-Level Freelance WordPress Developer who can confidently execute projects, deliver clean and efficient builds, and help us maintain the high standards our brand represents. This is a commission-based role with recurring earning potential, ideal for a developer who wants flexibility, meaningful work, and a long-term income stream tied directly to client success. Role Overview You will be responsible for building, customizing, and improving WordPress websites for clients across multiple industries. You’ll handle both front-end and back-end tasks, assist with integrations, optimize performance, and support ongoing care plans. This role operates on per-project commissions and recurring monthly commissions tied to clients you actively support or help bring into the company. As your portfolio of active clients grows, so does your long-term income. What You’ll Do • Build and customize modern, responsive WordPress websites using custom themes, child themes, and advanced plugin configurations. • Translate design concepts and wireframes into polished, user-focused websites aligned with brand & UX goals. • Develop front-end features using HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, JavaScript, and jQuery; ensure cross-browser and mobile responsiveness. • Perform mid-level PHP work within WordPress templates, hooks, functions, and basic integrations. • Integrate third-party APIs (REST, GraphQL, payment gateways, form systems, CRMs, etc.). • Optimize performance, caching, security settings, and accessibility standards. • Perform site updates, migrations, troubleshooting, and feature enhancements. • Support ongoing client care plans—earning recurring monthly commissions. • Collaborate with project managers and designers through Slack, Trello, Jira, or similar platforms. • Maintain clean documentation and follow Tundra Wolf’s development workflows. What You Bring • 3–5 years of WordPress development experience with launched, modern websites in your portfolio. • Strong skills in HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, JavaScript/jQuery, and responsive design. • Confident with PHP inside WordPress (templates, hooks, functions, shortcodes). • Experience building or customizing themes, plugins, or Gutenberg blocks. • Comfortable integrating APIs, web services, or external tools into WordPress. • Solid understanding of security best practices, caching, and optimization. • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining deadlines. • Strong communication and remote collaboration skills. Bonus Skills (Not Required) • Elementor Pro or advanced page-builder expertise • Experience with Git/GitHub version control • Basic Linux or DevOps familiarity (Docker, CLI, deployments) • SEO fundamentals (technical + on-page) • Experience with WooCommerce, membership sites, or LMS tools Compensation Structure This role is fully commission-based and includes: • Project Commissions: Earn a percentage of every WordPress site, redesign, feature build, or integration you complete. • Recurring Commissions: Receive monthly income for clients you support on Care Plans, hosting, management, or maintenance plans. • Performance Bonuses: Additional earnings for fast turnaround, high-quality builds, or upsell contributions. • Unlimited Income Potential: Your earnings scale with your output and the number of active monthly-retainer clients you support.
