Title: Process Automation Engineer II Position Summary: As a member of Truckstop's Research, Operational Upgrades, & Transformation Engineering (ROUTE) team, the Process Automation Engineer will accelerate operational excellence by developing innovative AI-powered solutions and custom automation workflows. This role serves as a key contributor to Truckstop's innovation engine for process optimization, bridging the gap between standard product capabilities and specialized business requirements for our financial division. The engineer will work closely with internal business units to understand their operational challenges and build tailored AI-driven automation solutions that enable teams to scale efficiently while maintaining quality standards. Essential Job Functions: Design and implement AI-powered automation workflows using prompt engineering techniques and agentic AI systems Build scalable business applications and custom solutions that address specialized needs not covered by standard product offerings Collaborate extensively with internal stakeholders to understand operational processes across multiple business units Translate complex business requirements into technical specifications for automation solutions Create intuitive user experiences for internal tools and automate manual processes to improve operational efficiency Research and prototype emerging AI technologies, particularly in process automation and workflow optimization Integrate consumer large language models (Google Gemini, Claude, OpenAI) into business process automation contexts Design and implement serverless compute solutions (AWS Lambda, GCP Cloud Functions, etc.) and integrate with APIs to support automation workflows Implementing software engineering best practices including version control, CI/CD pipelines, code review processes, and automated testing for scalable, maintainable systems Develop and maintain data pipelines, dashboards, and reporting systems using SQL, Python, and cloud infrastructure Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders about progress and priorities Position Requirements: 3-5 years of experience in software development, process automation, AI/ML implementation, or data analytics Strong proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation, pipeline development, and automation scripting Demonstrated experience with AI/LLM integration, particularly in business process automation contexts Experience with large language models and advanced prompt engineering techniques Hands-on experience building AI agents or agentic workflows for business process automation Proficiency with low-code/no-code platforms (e.g. Retool, Zapier) and ability to integrate them with custom solutions Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern data warehousing (BigQuery, Snowflake, etc.) Experience with data analysis and visualization tools to create dashboards, reports, and insights that support business decision-making Experience with workflow and orchestration engines (Airflow, dbt, Luigi, Airbyte, etc) Track record of successfully translating business requirements into technical solutions Experience with stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration Knowledge of software engineering best practices for building scalable, maintainable systems Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical business stakeholders Strong consultative approach to understanding business processes and identifying automation opportunities Ability to work collaboratively across multiple business units and translate their unique operational needs into technical solutions Proficiency in researching and implementing emerging AI technologies through proof-of-concept development Background in financial services, fintech, or similar data-intensive industries Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments Experience with R&D, proof-of-concept development, or innovation-focused roles FLSA Status: Exempt Physical Demands: Minimum physical exertion. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, communicate, reach, and manipulate objects, tools or controls. The position requires mobility. Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 5 pounds on a regular basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 75% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard and mouse. Work Environment: The working conditions will vary between an office environment and a remote home environment. The ideal protected indoor work environment is a clean, non-hazardous work area.
