Position: Materials Clerk Pay: $22-$24/hr Location: Naperville, IL Schedule: Monday-Friday - 8 AM - 4:30 PM, Saturdays as needed Job Summary The Materials Clerk plays a key role in supporting daily production operations by accurately picking, staging, transferring, and returning materials while maintaining up-to-date inventory records in the JobBOSS ERP system. This role ensures that all materials are properly identified, stored, and delivered to the correct departments in alignment with production schedules. The position also supports inventory control activities, equipment operation, and adherence to established safety and quality standards. Primary Responsibilities Inventory Control & Quality Support • Maintain stockroom organization, labeling, and proper material storage. • Participate in cycle counts and physical inventory activities. • Identify material quality concerns, equipment issues, or storage problems and notify supervision promptly. • Ensure accurate confirmation of part quantities and finished goods inventory. Material Picking, Staging & Delivery • Perform material picks and pulls according to traveler requirements and production schedules. • Deliver materials to designated departments with correct identification and handling. • Stage materials for upcoming jobs to support efficient production flow. • Return unused materials to inventory with appropriate documentation and ERP transactions. ERP Transactions & Documentation • Use JobBOSS ERP to complete material movements, adjustments, transfers, and returns. • Verify inventory quantities, locations, and material codes. • Report shortages or discrepancies to the Materials Manager. • Maintain accurate, organized documentation of all material handling activities. Material Processing & Equipment Operation • Operate the Amada shear and manual shear to process materials as needed. • Inspect materials using micrometers, calipers, and other precision tools. • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment. • Crane experience is a plus. General Department Support • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area. • Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and reduce waste. • Perform additional duties as required to support operational needs. Qualifications • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree preferred. • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office products. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. • Ability to read and understand written instructions and basic correspondence. • English required; Spanish encouraged. Knowledge & Skills Requirements • Understanding of job travelers, work instructions, and packaging specifications. • Proficiency in JobBOSS ERP for transactions and inventory verification. • Strong counting accuracy and attention to detail. • Ability to mentor or guide team members when needed. • Knowledge of material flow, labeling, and product preservation. • Forklift and pallet jack experience. Physical Requirements • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds. • Ability to wear required safety equipment. • Ability to see details at close range. • Ability to work in varied environmental conditions when loading or unloading materials.
