Position Summary: Reporting to the Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis, the Senior Financial Advisor will provide and lead financial support for large, complex program portfolios spanning diverse operating and business environments with varying funding models, regional programs, and/or Multi-sector Ministry portfolios. The Senior Financial Advisor will also manage financial processes or projects for their program or division collaborating with associated team members and other enabling services to provide senior leaders subject matter expertise and financial and business related advice. This position facilitates, coordinates, and leads the integration and interpretation of financial and clinical information to enable effective, efficient program business management and provides program & divisional support to clients by understanding their needs, interpreting/analyzing data, confidently making recommendations and linking financial /operational priorities using informational and people resources, problem solving, knowledge of standards and informative communication. As a pro-active business partner, the Senior Financial Advisor works with Senior Management, Program Directors, Managers, Physicians and other enabling team members to understand their operations and business requirements to facilitate the coordination of the annual operating and capital budget, completing forecasts, analyzing variances and their drivers, and helping the development of strategic action plans while also managing external reporting requirements. The Senior Financial Advisor is also expected to communicate with confidence and present their findings and recommendations to various leaders in the organization, and provide guidance to and promote teamwork with financial advisors. Key Qualifications: • Completion of a professional designation program (CPA) with a minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent progressive experience • Strong knowledge of accounting standards • MIS Certification from OHA preferred • Experience developing annual budgets and linking into program operating and strategic plans • Experience analyzing business performance and developing business cases • Strong leadership skills including communication, interpersonal, and relationship building skills in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment • Must be able to function autonomously and independently in a fast-paced and diverse operational environment while managing multiple priorities • Ability to proactively problem solve and network with stakeholders to find solutions • Experience with MOH Reporting, MIS Guidelines, and OCDM preferred • Strong Excel (w/ pivot tables), Word & Powerpoint experience Responsibilities: • Build partnerships to lead other financial advisors and enabling team members (Decision Support, Project Mgmt, HR, etc.) within a large division to build comprehensive and standardized reporting and provide summarized financial planning information & advice to senior leaders • Lead multi-sector ministry reporting & audit processes spanning multiple programs • Collaborating with VPs, Directors, Managers and other enabling departments on the development of annual operating budgets within funding constraints, identification of program efficiencies and implementation of strategic plan priorities, developing business cases and briefing notes related to projects & funding advocacy • Educating leaders on business/financial processes and accountabilities • Engaging and building strong relationships with the programs to fully understand their processes, operations, funding models, and resourcing needs • Using sound business judgement, provide direction and signficant input into program’s innovative ideas while championing and supporting new change initiatives by making recommendations on financial and business risk mitigation and opportunities on the deliverables • Ensuring alignment on program decision making to program, division and organization’s strategies highlighting impacts that span cross-program or organization wide • Perform reviews, summarize concisely, and present operational results to enable the identification and interpretation of significant variances and how these may relate to service volumes and effectively presenting this information in meetings while facilitating the development of action plans to ensure compliance and alignment with program funding • Assist in month end & year end revenue recognition, accruals and reconciliations, monthly reporting and updating the reporting structures • Work with various departments to gather information, summarize and track expenses related to specific Ministry or externally funded projects To pursue this career opportunity, please visit our website: www.trilliumhealthpartners.ca Trillium Health Partners’ (THP) is an equal opportunity employer who values the importance of antiracism work and is committed to integrating antiracism, diversity, equity and inclusion best practices throughout THP operations, policies and culture.
