Job Description A small, multi-strategy hedge fund located near New York City (Connecticut) is seeking one candidate for the following position: Junior Investment Analyst / Trader The candidate will join a six-person team and report directly to the Portfolio Manager. This role requires flexibility, as the candidate will support both the research and trading functions of the fund. Candidates will assist the team with: • Conducting quantitative and qualitative research to generate insights on investment opportunities across public and private markets • Reviewing, analyzing, modeling, and producing valuation work and market reports • Evaluating portfolio companies, industries, sponsors, and valuation metrics • Contributing to alternative data collection and processing (some travel may be required) • Analyzing macroeconomic and market trends, earnings prospects, financial statements, and other relevant indicators • Collaborating with team members and performing in-depth due diligence to support trading and investment decisions • Screening new investment opportunities and monitoring existing positions • Tracking financial news, market developments, risks, and new investment products • Independently developing solutions to analytical and research problems Candidate Requirements • Strong passion for investing and financial markets • Excellent analytical and communication skills • Ability to think independently and challenge consensus when appropriate • Comfortable adapting to alternative or non-traditional investment strategies • Ability to develop clear and well-reasoned investment theses • Strong interest in idea generation Candidates must have at least one of the following: • CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) • CFOA (Certified Futures & Options Analyst) • Completion of TrendUp Now Level 3 and the TrendUp Specialization & Recruitment Program (SRP) Education requirements: • Degree completed or in progress (for interns) in Finance, Business, Economics, or Accounting • Degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or other quantitative fields are also welcome • Exceptional candidates from non-traditional backgrounds may be considered on a case-by-case basis Additional requirements: • 2+ years of relevant finance or investment experience • Authorization to work in the United States • Strong preference given to graduates of the TrendUp Now L-Program Please note that while this role may initially be fully remote, it may transition to a hybrid or in-person format during Q1 2024. Base salary range does not include bonus, overtime, or other benefits, where applicable. Final compensation will be based on skills and experience.
