Job title: Grant Funded - Grant Writer Reports to: Executive Director & CEO Job type: Part-time, contract, or freelance (variable) Location: Remote Job summary The Grant Writer is responsible for securing funding for the organization by researching, preparing, and submitting persuasive grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and government agencies. The ideal candidate will have excellent research and writing skills, a deep understanding of the grant submission process, and a proven track record of securing funding. Key responsibilities • Research funding opportunities: Identify potential grant opportunities by researching local, state, federal, and private funding sources that align with the organization's mission and goals. • Develop and write proposals: Craft compelling and high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, reports, and other supporting materials. • Collaborate with teams: Work closely with program managers, finance departments, and other internal staff to gather necessary information, data, and budgets for grant applications. • Manage grant process: Organize and track all stages of the grant process, from prospecting to submission, ensuring all requirements and deadlines are met. • Maintain relationships: Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with current and prospective funders through regular communication and follow-up. • Report on progress: Prepare and submit reports to funders detailing how grant money was utilized and the project's outcomes. • Maintain records: Keep detailed and accurate records of all grant activities and outcomes in a CRM or grant tracking system. • Stay informed: Remain up-to-date on trends in grant writing, changes in funding policies, and specific guidelines for grant-funded projects. Qualifications • Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Public Administration, or a related field. • Experience: 2–3 years of experience in grant writing, with a proven track record of securing funds. • Certification: Professional certifications such as the Grant Professional Certified (GPC) are a plus. Skills and abilities • Exceptional writer: The ability to write clear, concise, and persuasive grant proposals and reports. • Research skills: Proficiency in identifying relevant grant opportunities and gathering necessary data to support proposals. • Attention to detail: Meticulous approach to reviewing funder guidelines and ensuring all application components are accurate. • Organizational skills: Excellent time management and the ability to manage multiple grant projects and deadlines simultaneously. • Collaborative: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. • Financial acumen: Knowledge of budgeting and financial justification in the context of grant proposals. • Technical proficiency: Familiarity with grant databases, application portals (e.g., Grants.gov), and CRM software.
