Full Description

Traina is seeking a Senior Director of Brand Strategy to lead our strategic services and shape the future of our agency. This is a pivotal agency leadership role that demands both strategic vision and hands-on excellence. You will serve as the tip of the spear for Traina's brand strategy efforts—directing the strategy team, interfacing with senior leadership across the agency, and owning strategic relationships with our most important clients. You will work across a diverse spectrum of industry categories, tackling the unique brand strategy needs of every client while also helping to guide Traina's own brand evolution. More About You: • You've spent 5+ years immersed in brand strategy building, leading clients through the brand strategy development process. You have a clear, proven, step-by-step process for guiding clients through the key phases of a comprehensive brand strategy, including market research, brand positioning, brand architecture, core ideology, and messaging framework. • You're a solid creative writer. You're a gifted namer. You lead strategy workshops that effectively extract a client's unique positioning and personality and adeptly convert them into their brand story. • You are a strategic leader and a builder. You inspire teams, elevate thinking, and create a culture where rigorous strategy thrives. • You see both the big picture and the critical details. You challenge client thinking with confidence—fearless because of the intellectual rigor you bring to every engagement. • You are a thinker and a listener, seeking out perspectives from clients, customers, colleagues, and your own team members to inform breakthrough strategic work. • You are highly curious, drawing on data, trends, and cultural insights to build compelling cases for your recommendations. • You thrive in ambiguity and complexity, believing there are multiple ways to approach a problem and bringing agility to every client engagement. • You are a doer and a creator. Some of your best work happens in the trenches—both alone and in full-tilt collaboration with your team. • You are a strategic partner to other agency leaders, contributing to business development, new business pitches, and the overall direction of the agency. Requirements • 8+ years of agency experience with at least 5 years in brand strategy-specific roles. Experience in branding agencies, brand consultancies, or in-house brand strategy teams is required. • Proven leadership track record. You've built and led strategy teams, mentored strategists, and demonstrated the ability to elevate both people and work. You know how to inspire excellence and create accountability. • Executive presence and stakeholder management. Exceptional at interfacing with C-suite clients and agency leadership. Comfortable leading strategic conversations at the highest levels and representing Traina's strategic vision in high-stakes situations. • Strategic frameworks and brand expertise. Deep familiarity with developing core ideologies, positioning strategies, brand architecture, and messaging platforms. • Research fluency. Experience collaborating with research partners and translating insights into actionable strategy. • Exceptional writing and presentation skills. Adept at translating strategy into compelling narratives—brand stories, value propositions, taglines, web copy, and other external-facing content. Equally comfortable presenting work and running strategy workshops remotely and in person. • Business acumen. Understanding of how brand strategy drives business outcomes, with the ability to connect strategic recommendations to revenue growth, market positioning, and competitive advantage.
