Senior Accountant – U.S. Statutory & Financial Reporting Overview: This role is responsible for end-to-end financial reporting activities under both U.S. Statutory (STAT) and U.S. GAAP standards for designated legal entities within the U.S. Insurance group. The position focuses on ledger management, regulatory compliance, cash oversight, and coordination of key financial processes for U.S.-based insurance operations. Core Responsibilities: • Manage full-cycle ledger operations for both local and group general ledgers related to select U.S. insurance entities. • Lead financial oversight for legacy technical accounts and non-technical accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of entries. • Monitor reinsurer settlements and claims-related balances, ensuring proper reconciliation of receivables and payables. • Execute period-end close tasks, including roll-forwards, posting late adjustments, and supplier reconciliations. • Collaborate with FP&A and Accounts Payable to validate accruals and support close processes. • Maintain adherence to working-day timetables and support efforts to streamline reporting timelines. • Coordinate U.S. premium tax filings, FET payments, and related reporting, working with internal teams and external providers. • Oversee daily cash management activities, including payment processing, wire transfers, and account monitoring through SAP and banking platforms. • Prepare draft financial reports for statutory and regulatory purposes, escalating to senior leadership as needed. • Support budgeting, planning, and Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) reporting through data analysis and reporting. • Participate in operational initiatives, system changes, and support transformation projects with finance change teams. • Attend actuarial and claims update meetings related to legacy business and monitor developments against contractual caps. • Review required reporting deliverables for third-party run-off providers Regulatory & Compliance Responsibilities: • Ensure compliance with applicable U.S. financial regulations and internal policies. • Uphold standards related to financial crime prevention, sanctions compliance, customer protection, and sound financial management. • Promote ethical behavior and support company policies related to whistleblowing and conduct. Required Skills & Competencies: • In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and U.S. Statutory accounting frameworks. • Strong ERP experience, particularly with general and sub-ledger processes (SAP preferred). • Advanced Excel proficiency and strong data analysis skills. • Clear written and verbal communication abilities. • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy. • Analytical thinker with problem-solving skills and the ability to manage deadlines. • Comfortable adapting to shifting priorities in a dynamic work environment. • Initiative-driven, with a focus on process improvement and technology integration (including AI tools). Qualifications: • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. • CPA certification required. Experience: • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within the commercial insurance or financial services industry.
