Implement, support, and maintain enterprise collaboration and identity platforms including Microsoft 365 and Active Directory, develop infrastructure automation, manage cloud migration projects, and ensure system stability.
Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years supporting enterprise infrastructure with proficiency in Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and PowerShell scripting.
General Purpose: The Systems Engineer is a technical role responsible for implementing, supporting, and maintaining enterprise collaboration and identity platforms, including Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), Exchange Online, and on-premises Active Directory environments. This role independently determines the appropriate approach to hybrid identity, messaging, automation, endpoint management, and related infrastructure services across data center and cloud environments, collaborating with senior engineers on matters of complexity. In addition, this position evaluates and applies established processes and procedures, exercising discretion to adapt standard practices to specific situations, to ensure systems are built, configured, monitored, and backed up using industry accepted best practices. It requires close collaboration with senior team members and independent judgment in contributing to IT projects. Reports to (Supervisor/Manager): Director, IT Operations Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Administer and support Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, and related security/compliance components. * Independently administer Entra ID (Azure AD), including standard conditional access policies, SSO integrations, MFA/2FA, and hybrid identity synchronization (Entra Connect) to determine appropriate configurations. * Evaluate and maintain M365 security configurations, including DLP, threat protection, and compliance settings, determining appropriate settings based on risk assessment. * Support Exchange Online administration, mail flow, transport rules, and hybrid configurations. * Support on-premises Active Directory including GPO management, DNS, DHCP, identity lifecycle tasks, and replication health monitoring. * Develop infrastructure automation using PowerShell and scripting methodologies, selecting appropriate tools and approaches. * Serve as a technical contributor on infrastructure, cloud modernization, and migration projects, exercising independent judgment in resolving technical issues. * Create and maintain documentation for configurations, procedures, and standards. * Collaborate with other System Administrators to support TPx infrastructure (data center and cloud-based infrastructure). * Independently assess and recommend improvements to the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment, and implement changes. * Collaborate with other teams and team members on automation strategies and deployment processes. * Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and training plans for system administration, usage, and disaster recovery. * Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and related project documentation for assigned initiatives. * Research new and support existing technologies. * Diagnose and resolve issues, independently in response to monitoring alerts/pages, determining appropriate remediation steps. * Adhere to IT access-management and change control procedures. * Work well together in a team environment. Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience. * 4+ years of experience supporting enterprise infrastructure, with exposure to Microsoft 365 and cloud identity platforms. * Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, Entra ID, and on-prem Active Directory. * Basic understanding of Microsoft security & compliance frameworks. * Familiarity with PowerShell automation and scripting. * Exposure to VMware administration, backup technologies, and PKI/Certificate Services is a plus. * Certifications in Microsoft (MCP, MS-900, AZ-900) a plus. * Working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems. * Willingness to learn scripting in: bash, PowerShell, Perl. * Able to independently install, maintain, and troubleshoot common operating systems, software applications, and patches on virtual and bare metal servers. * Interest in Linux integrations with Windows environments. * Able to conduct research into server/storage issues and products as required.
