We collaborate across teams to elevate student success by strengthening core services, incubating breakthrough approaches to accelerate learning, and leveraging research to scale promising models that dramatically improve learner outcomes on the national stage. Grounded in the science of learning and guided by the realities students face today, we translate research into action, challenge outdated measures of success, and design solutions that create opportunities for learners today and into the future. As a member of the Leadership Team, the Vice President of Futures Design and Innovation sits within the TNTP’s Transformation Division and leads TNTP’s efforts to anticipate and shape the future of education. This leader oversees the design, prototyping, and codification of new service models, frameworks, and tools that advance equitable student mobility and strengthen TNTP’s long-term strategy to supporting all learners towards social and economic mobility. The VP bridges foresight, design, and applied learning to translate emerging trends into actionable pilots, codified services, and scalable innovations that prepare TNTP and the field for what’s next. Key responsibilities include leading: Leadership Coordination and Strategy of Futures Design and Innovation Portfolio • Lead and oversee the Futures Design and Innovation Portfolio, identifying and driving strategic priorities in coordination with other leadership team members and scanning the horizon for new opportunities for TNTP in education, workforce, and technology integration into student experiences and outcomes • Lead TNTP’s Futures Design Team, ensuring staff are supported and equipped to accelerate TNTP’s investments in emerging areas of work while providing high-level oversight of projects and deliverables. • Translate emerging insights into perspectives, prototypes, and pilot studies that address future system needs • Identifying and cultivating partnerships to secure grant-funded and fee-for-service innovation projects that are aligned to TNTP’s strategic learning and impact agenda • Partner with client-facing staff to co-design, test, and scale innovative models keeping that promote student mobility • Build TNTP’s internal capacity for systems thinking, design, and experimentation through learning sprints and design labs Service Design and Codification • Oversee the design and codification of frameworks for emerging areas such as Career-Connected Learning, Academics and Durable Skills, Social Capital, Civic Engagement, and Personal Supports through the lens of ensuring learners experience instructional coherence • Create implementation guides, templates, and trainings in partnership with National Consulting, Education to Career, and Policy teams to guide internal adoption and scaling • Produce quarterly Emerging Services Briefings to inform leadership and field partners Piloting and Evaluation • Oversee pilot project design, measurement, and reporting to assess feasibility, scalability, and impact • Ensure all pilots are grounded in learning science, systems thinking, and user-centered design • Partner with the Transformation VP of Learning, Impact, and Research to align pilot data collection and impact evaluation frameworks • Manage the transition of successful pilots into scalable service lines with the Consulting, Education to Career, and Policy teams • Develop and maintain partnerships with researchers, funders, and policy organizations to advance TNTP’s evidence base AI & EdTech Integration Strategy for Client-Facing Teams • Actively contribute to the AI Working Group, leading org-wide efforts to identify and scale AI-driven instructional pilots and service redesign efforts • Guide the development of TNTP’s AI & Edtech Client-facing service models and frameworks through piloting and evaluation, culminating into implementation guides, templates and trainings • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships and funding opportunities to advance AI-related innovation and professional learning YOUR QUALIFICATIONS Qualifications and Experiences We are looking for a candidate to possess the following skills and expertise: • 10+ years of experience in service design, innovation management, or product development—preferably in education or social impact sectors. • Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional design or innovation initiatives. • Expertise in systems thinking, design thinking, and learning science. • Experience managing pilots, prototypes, or grant-funded innovation portfolios. • Deep understanding of emerging trends in education, technology, and workforce development. • Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in education, design, innovation, or a related field preferred. • Visionary Leadership: Anticipates trends and translates foresight into actionable innovation. • Systems Design: Connects people, processes, and structures for coherence and scalability. • Innovation Mindset: Champions experimentation, iteration, and bold learning. • Collaborative Influence: Aligns internal and external partners around shared innovation goals. • Equity & Impact Focus: Ensures all innovation efforts advance equitable outcomes for students and communities. • Demonstrated experience establishing relationships with and engaging a diverse group of stakeholders. • Enthusiasm about representing TNTP externally and leading partnerships and business development efforts with new and existing clients and funders. • Experience leading engaged, diverse, inclusive and effective project teams that deliver work of the highest quality and meet goals. • Deep expertise in motivating and influencing others to act - including peers, direct reports, and other stakeholders. • Strong experience in managing budgets and maintaining the fiscal health and sustainability of assigned projects, including comfort managing profit and loss targets and revenue and expense goals. WHAT WE OFFER The salary range for this position is $168,267 - $252,400. New hires can typically expect a starting salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint ($168,267- $210,333), in alignment with experience, qualifications, and our commitment to equity in compensation.
