Job Title: Director of Commercial Cleaning – Sacramento International Airport 📍 Location: Sacramento, CA 💸 Compensation: $100,000–$125,000 (DOE) About the Role We’re looking for a high-level Director of Commercial Cleaning to lead large-scale custodial operations at Sacramento International Airport. This role is responsible for overall performance of the cleaning program—people, quality, safety, cost, and client satisfaction. The ideal candidate has deep experience running large custodial operations, preferably in airports or major venues/stadiums, and is comfortable operating at both the strategic and “boots-on-the-ground” levels. • Lead Large-Scale Operations • Oversee day-to-day cleaning operations across terminals, restrooms, gates, offices, and back-of-house areas. • Ensure all areas meet or exceed airport, safety, and regulatory standards. • Manage staffing levels, scheduling, and deployment for 24/7 operations. • People Leadership • Directly lead and develop Managers, Supervisors, and frontline cleaning teams. • Build a strong, accountable culture centered on safety, quality, and service. • Handle performance management, coaching, and development of key leaders. • Quality, Safety & Compliance • Implement and oversee inspection programs, audits, and KPI tracking. • Drive corrective action plans and continuous improvement initiatives. • Champion safety protocols, PPE compliance, and incident reduction. • Client & Stakeholder Management • Serve as the primary operational contact for airport management and key client stakeholders. • Lead regular business reviews, performance updates, and walk-throughs. • Quickly resolve escalations and service issues with professionalism. • Operational Excellence & Financial Performance • Optimize labor, equipment, and supply usage to meet budget targets. • Standardize processes and implement best practices across shifts and terminals. • Support pricing, forecasting, and reporting for the operation. What We’re Looking For • Experience • 3+ years of progressive leadership experience in custodial, facilities, environmental services, or similar operations. • Experience overseeing large, complex cleaning operations (airport, stadium, convention center, hospital, strongly preferred). • Proven success leading a multi-shift, high-volume, union/non-union workforce. • Skills • Strong leadership, team-building, and people-development skills. • Excellent communication skills with both frontline employees and executive-level stakeholders. • Solid analytical and problem-solving ability; comfortable with metrics, KPIs, and process improvement. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and basic operational reporting. • Other Requirements • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, on-your-feet environment in and around active airport operations. • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required. • Must meet all airport security and background check requirements.
