Full Description

Tilt (check us out here) is looking for a Software Engineer II to join our team. You will own well-scoped features from design to production, improve the reliability of the systems you work in, and solve problems alongside fellow engineers, product, and design. This position is a full-time role reporting to the Engineering Manager. We want you to be successful here at Tilt! Job Description: Roles & Responsibilities Own well-scoped features and projects from technical design through production release: break the work into tickets, estimate effort, and deliver on the commitments you make, with senior engineers available for design review and guidance. Reduce bugs and technical debt in the components you work in, leaving code easier to change than you found it. Write automated unit and integration tests for the code you ship, keep the CI pipeline green, and use logs, metrics, and alerts to confirm your changes behave as expected in production. Write readable, well-documented code, and give and receive code reviews that are specific, timely, and respectful. Collaborate with peers to solve problems: pair on tricky bugs, talk through design options before building, and share what you learn about the parts of the codebase you know well. Participate in stand-ups, backlog refinement, and retrospectives, bringing clear status, realistic estimates, and concrete suggestions for improving how the team works. Raise risks, bugs, and blockers as soon as you see them, with enough context for the team and stakeholders to decide on next steps. Bring architectural or cross-team questions to senior engineers and your Engineering Manager. Take ownership of one or more product components and become a go-to person for how they work. Participate in the team on-call rotation, triaging and resolving production issues with support from senior engineers. You’re a great fit if: You have shipped full-stack features to production using Python/Django on the backend and React on the frontend. You break larger problems into small, shippable pieces and give estimates your team can plan around. You write automated tests as a normal part of your workflow and are comfortable shipping through a CI/CD pipeline. You manage your own work: you time-box investigations and ask for help when you are stuck, rather than spinning for days. You are comfortable starting work when requirements still have open questions, and you ask the questions needed to close them. You pick up new tools, internal systems, and unfamiliar parts of a codebase quickly. You adapt well when priorities or requirements change, and you treat those changes as a chance to learn. You care about Tilt’s mission and about the employees and employers who rely on our product during some of the most important moments of their lives. You have experience working in startups and/or B2B SaaS environments. Virtues/Competencies: 1. Fearlessly Flexible You go with the flow and deal with (lots) of ambiguity You’re not afraid to work without clear direction Total Compensation The projected annual salary range is $125,000 - $135,000 USD plus stock options (ISOs), because we believe everyone should have some stake in our business.
