Who is YTP: The Yellow Tulip Project (YTP) is an innovative and determined youth-driven 501 c-3 with the mission to smash the stigma surrounding mental health–and to build a community of people who realize that hope happens when youth and community leaders work together. With the help of over 700 Youth Ambassadors in 39 states and 9 countries, YTP offers community-based programming – such as Hope Garden planting, and interactive photo exhibits – all with the mission to smash the stigma and inspire hope. About the YTP Board: YTP has a working Board – every member leverages their professional experience to assist and support our small staff and volunteers. Your participation will help provide the insights and guidance to help us expand and sustain the YTP youth-driven momentum, now nationwide, that is moving mountains in the way we talk about mental illness. This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about YTP’s mission. YTP seeks prospective board members who can---and will---bring targeted experience in PR + Marketing to the organization. Overseeing, Guiding + Supporting: • Content Creation: Support Executive Director + Director of Social Media in generating engaging content including press releases, articles, blog posts, social media posts, and newsletters to effectively communicate the organization's mission, impact, and resources. • Developing Communication Strategies: Provide guidance and advice on the creation and execution of comprehensive communication strategies to raise awareness about youth mental health issues and the nonprofit's initiatives. • Media Relations: Help to cultivate (or maintain) relationships with media outlets, journalists to secure coverage for the organization's activities, events, and campaigns. • Public Relations Campaigns: Help plan and execute public relations campaigns to promote specific programs, events, or fundraising initiatives, collaborating with internal teams and external partners as needed. • Crisis Communication: Develop protocols and strategies for handling crisis situations or negative publicity, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and maintaining the organization's reputation. Qualifications: Ideal candidates will have extensive professional experience with marketing, public relations, communications and/or the nonprofit sector. We are growing nationwide and we seek board members who will actively support and guide this growth through media relations and publicity for the organization. • Experience in communications, PR, or related fields and have a genuine interest in contributing to the leadership team. • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with a passion for advocating for youth mental health. • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and help the Executive Director and other staff to meet goals. • Understanding of mental health issues affecting youth and a commitment to promoting mental wellness and resilience. Board Commitment: • 6 Board Meetings per year (1 hr Per) • 10 Committee meetings per year (1 - 1.5 Hrs Per) • Ad Hoc meetings with Executive leadership This is an unpaid and fully volunteer run board*
