Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Assistant to support our finance team. The ideal candidate will assist with various accounting functions, including data entry, accounts payable and receivable, and general ledger reconciliation. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in corporate and governmental accounting practices, utilizing advanced financial software and adhering to GAAP standards. The Accounting Assistant will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements. Duties • Perform data entry for financial transactions using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Workday, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, Ceridian, PeopleSoft, and Paychex. • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections. • Reconcile accounts on the balance sheet and general ledger to ensure accuracy of financial statements. • Prepare journal entries for month-end closing activities and assist with account analysis. • Support payroll management tasks, including processing payroll data through systems like ADP or UltiPro. • Conduct account reconciliations, including account analysis and debits & credits verification. • Assist with budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance with SOX controls where applicable. • Maintain organized records of financial documents in accordance with company policies. • Support tax preparation activities by providing necessary documentation and data analysis. • Collaborate with internal teams on projects involving public accounting standards or governmental accounting regulations. Requirements • Proven experience in corporate accounting or public accounting environments. • Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Workday, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, Ceridian, PeopleSoft, or Paychex. • Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial concepts including balance sheet reconciliation, journal entries, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits. • Knowledge of payroll management systems and tax experience is preferred. • Proficiency in data entry with high accuracy (10 key typing skills). • Ability to perform account reconciliation and account analysis efficiently. • Experience with financial software used for budgeting and financial services is a plus. • Excellent math skills combined with strong attention to detail and organizational abilities. • Familiarity with non-profit accounting is advantageous but not required.
