Job Description Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Manager, Revenue Cycle Vendor Management at our Hyde Park Campus. This position will be primarily a work from home opportunity with the requirement to come onsite once a week. The Manager, Revenue Cycle Vendor Management is responsible for setting the strategic direction, governance, and oversight of all revenue cycle vendor partnerships across UCMC, Ingalls and Northwest Indiana. This leadership role ensures that vendor relationships align with organizational goals, optimize financial performance, enhance operational efficiency, and maintain compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. Essential Job Functions Develop and implement a comprehensive vendor management strategy to support revenue cycle optimization and financial stewardship. Oversee vendor selection, contracting, and negotiation processes, ensuring best-in-class partnerships that drive ROI. Establish and enforce vendor performance metrics (KPIs, SLAs, and benchmarks) to ensure accountability. Lead monthly and/or quarterly business reviews with executive stakeholders and vendor leadership, ensuring continuous improvement. Serve as the primary executive liaison between revenue cycle operations, finance, IT, legal, and vendor partners. Align vendor strategies with hospital and professional billing, patient access, revenue integrity, coding/CDI, and medical records functions. Collaborate with senior leadership to identify technology and automation solutions to enhance vendor efficiency. Represent vendor management in executive meetings, strategic planning sessions, and governance committees. Oversee the vendor financial portfolio, ensuring cost-effective agreements and adherence to budget constraints. Partner with finance to manage invoicing, reconciliation, and financial performance tracking. Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive contract renegotiations to optimize spend. Ensure vendor compliance with HIPAA, healthcare regulations, and UCMC policies. Drive process improvements to enhance vendor efficiency, reduce denials, and improve cash flow. Develop a vendor risk management framework, ensuring transparency and accountability in all engagements. Drive talent development initiatives, ensuring continuous skill growth in vendor management and revenue cycle operations. Oversee team structure, roles, and responsibilities to align with organizational priorities. Other duties as assigned. Essential Skills Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and negotiation abilities. Deep understanding of healthcare finance, revenue cycle operations, and vendor management best practices. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to drive vendor performance improvements. Excellent relationship management and executive communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial reporting tools, and revenue cycle management systems. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree 10+ years of experience in revenue cycle operations, with extensive experience in vendor management, financial oversight, and contract administration. 5+ years of leadership experience in managing teams, cross-functional collaboration, and executive-level strategy. Proven experience in managing large-scale revenue cycle vendors across hospital and professional billing, patient access, revenue integrity, coding/CDI, or medical records. Strong background in data-driven decision-making, financial tracking, and process optimization. The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
