Bill insurance carriers electronically, follow up on unpaid balances, analyze client accounts for payment issues, and perform administrative tasks as assigned.
Associate degree or 2+ years medical billing experience, knowledge of insurance guidelines, ICD-10 and CPT coding, experience with no fault auto insurance, proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR software, strong communication and organizational skills.
The Recovery Project is an industry-leading rehabilitation practice with locations in Lansing, Livonia and Clinton Township that provides evidence based, focused and effective physical, occupational and speech therapy to people with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, neurological disorders and other conditions. We work to produce hope and life-changing results for our clients and their support networks. We are in search of a full time Medical Biller for our three clinics. Job responsibilities include: • Bill assigned insurance carriers using electronic billing system in a timely and accurate manner. • Follow company process for collecting/following-up on unpaid balances. • Self-directed analyzation of client accounts for payment patterns (ie. non-payments, insurance payment changes, denials) and subsequent follow-up with assigned insurance carriers. • Identifiy and communicate problematic client accounts before they become a larger issue. • Perform other administrative tasks as assigned by the Director of Administration. Job requirements include: Education/Experience: • Hold an Associate degree and/or 2+ years of experience in electronic medical billing. • Knowledge of and understanding of insurance guidelines, medical terminology, ICD-10 coding and CPT codes. • Experience billing and working with no fault auto insurance companies and case managers. Software: • Experience in Microsoft Office Products including Outlook, Word, Excel, Sharepoint and Teams • EMR, electronic billing and collections software Other • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Effective organization and time management skills. • Ability to multi-task and adapt to a fast-paced and changing insurance environment • Team Player with the ability to work independently and with co-workers in an effective manner • Proactive in problem-solving, evaluating options, and finding solutions.
