The Herald Group is looking for a highly motivated, senior-level professional with extensive experience in issue advocacy, public affairs, and strategic communications. Vice President candidates will be responsible for setting strategic direction, overseeing the execution of complex client programs, and leading senior-level client relationships to ensure successful delivery across accounts. Vice President candidates should be strong leaders who thrive in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple high-priority clients and initiatives simultaneously. Significant experience in media relations, content development, and public policy communications strategy is required, along with the ability to provide clear guidance to teams and counsel to clients. The Herald Group is a full-service, bipartisan public affairs firm based in Washington, D.C., providing strategic communications services to major corporations, trade associations, and other organizations seeking to advance public policy positions in federal, state, and international legislative and regulatory arenas. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: • 8+ years of experience in public affairs, strategic communications, public policy, or a related field; agency experience strongly preferred • Demonstrated ability to lead complex accounts and provide strategic counsel with limited oversight while delivering consistent, high-quality results • Proven experience managing and developing teams, including senior-level staff • Strong financial and operational acumen, with experience overseeing budgets, retainers, and account performance • Excellent judgment and discretion in handling sensitive issues and high-stakes client matters • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex issues into clear, compelling strategies • Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining quality and responsiveness • Deep understanding of traditional and digital media, with extensive experience shaping narratives and drafting and overseeing high-quality content, including strategy memos, press materials, op-eds, thought leadership, and digital communications RESPONSIBILITIES: Client & Account Leadership • Own a portfolio of client accounts, providing senior-level strategic direction and overseeing execution with minimal partner involvement • Deliver high-quality strategic counsel on public affairs and business communications issues while maintaining strong day-to-day client service • Manage account performance, including budgets, retainers, staffing, and servicing levels, with accountability for client outcomes • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders and proactively identify opportunities to evolve or expand engagements Business Growth & Firm Leadership • Drive organic growth across existing client relationships and contribute to new business development efforts • Partner with firm leadership on strategic planning, resourcing, and firm-wide priorities, sharing accountability for overall performance People & Team Leadership • Lead, manage, and develop account teams, including senior directors, directors, and account staff • Provide ongoing feedback, performance reviews, and career development support to direct reports • Make staffing and utilization decisions that align team capabilities with client and firm needs Internal Leadership & Operations • Participate in management discussions related to staffing, resourcing, and people operations • Ensure timely completion of internal administrative responsibilities and model strong internal leadership and judgment The Herald Group offers unique advancement opportunities for innovative professionals seeking to excel in a fast-paced, growing environment.
