The Hatcher Group is seeking a detail-oriented, user-focused content strategist to join our team. In this role, you'll lead content strategy efforts for clients advancing equity-driven initiatives in public policy, education, and community development. You will shape digital experiences by conducting user research, auditing existing content, and developing strategic frameworks that guide content creation and optimization. As a key contributor to our web development team, you'll collaborate with writers, designers, and developers to ensure content is clear, accessible, and aligned with user needs. You'll help clients navigate complex content ecosystems, plan effective migrations, and implement governance models that support long-term success. What You'll Do Determine and carry out research activities, including user and stakeholder interviews, content-focused usability testing, and competitive analyses. Complete content audits that involve understanding existing content sources and defining content gaps. Review web analytics and other inputs to identify needed content improvements. Plan and lead workshops to define and prioritize web content needs. Create content strategy deliverables, such as content outlines, gap analyses, and governance documentation, that provide a basis for web content development. Build and maintain content migration plans. Help manage content development, maintenance, and optimization processes. Complete content modeling and taxonomy design activities. Be an advocate for plain language that helps guide users to what they need. Outline web pages and work closely with writers by lending a hand in the writing process when needed. Support content authoring efforts: plan site migrations, ensure site design and features work with real content, help with the content entry process, and train client authors when needed. Requirements What You'll Bring We're seeking a passionate and collaborative professional eager to make a difference. The ideal candidate will have: Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience. At least ten years of working experience, ideally in web content strategy or its related disciplines, like content design. If your expertise is in a different field, but you can explain how your skills can transfer to web content strategy, we'd still like to hear from you. Existing clearance with the Department of Defense or willingness and ability to acquire one. Familiarity with writing for the web, UX design, information architecture, and interaction design. Demonstrated strength in problem-solving and effective decision-making. Ability to work both as part of a team and independently, managing complex and simultaneous projects. Excellent oral and written communication skills to clearly convey information to upper management and clients. Familiarity with tools like Content Workflow, Adobe Experience Manager, Miro, and Airtable are a plus, though not required. Must be a U.S. Citizen and fluent English speaker.
