Position Overview: The Analyst, Middle Market Strategy supports the execution of strategic initiatives that contribute to the financial and operational goals of the business unit. The role focuses on assisting strategy leadership and team members by gathering data, organizing information, and preparing basic analyses that inform decision-making. The Analyst works collaboratively with internal Middle Market teams and cross-functional partners to support projects, develop foundational business knowledge, and contribute to reporting and research efforts. This is a learning-focused role requiring attention to detail, a collaborative mindset, and a strong desire to grow analytical and communication skills. In This Role, You Will: Support Strategic Planning Efforts: Assist the Middle Market Strategy team in executing strategic initiatives by gathering data, organizing information, and helping prepare materials that align with business objectives. Collaborate with team members to learn how strategic plans are developed and implemented. Support business initiatives led by directors and AVPs. Contribute to Financial Analysis: Help compile and review financial data to support monthly reporting on business performance. Apply basic corporate finance knowledge and learn foundational financial analysis techniques such as trend identification and variance tracking, with guidance from senior analysts. Assist with Industry Research: Provide support to the industry strategy team by collecting and organizing data across general and specialized segments. Conduct preliminary trend analysis and help prepare summaries that contribute to broader strategic discussions. Begin developing knowledge of business functions outside of core commercial areas. Support Market Insights Development: Participate in research on geographic market dynamics by gathering relevant data and assisting in the creation of reports that highlight regional opportunities and challenges. Work closely with team members to understand how market insights inform business decisions. Build Analytical Foundations: Begin developing knowledge of actuarial and data science concepts relevant to the business, including exposure to insurance rate-making processes. Learn how pricing models impact business strategy and financial performance. Show aptitude for learning data modeling and analytical approaches. Develop Data Skills: Use basic data tools such as Excel and SQL to accurately create reports and summaries. Demonstrate attention to detail and a willingness to learn more advanced data techniques over time. Help Track Strategic Initiatives: Assist in tracking progress on key strategic initiatives by maintaining documentation, updating status reports, and coordinating with team members to support timely execution. Develop Communication Skills: Demonstrate strong written communication skills and begin developing presentation capabilities. Support the preparation of presentations and reports for Middle Market leadership, with coaching from senior team members. What You Need To Apply: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 2+ years of professional work experience in insurance, strategy, or data analytics underwriting Middle Market accounts. Basic analytical skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for organizing data and performing simple analysis; demonstrates interest in learning advanced functions over time. Introductory exposure to SQL or similar data tools; shows curiosity and willingness to build query-writing skills. Strong written communication skills; developing ability to create clear, structured presentations using PowerPoint. Basic understanding of corporate finance concepts; limited exposure to the commercial insurance industry, with a willingness to learn about Middle Market dynamics. Good organizational habits with the ability to manage multiple tasks under guidance and meet deadlines reliably. Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach to working with peers and building relationships across functions. Growth-oriented attitude; eager to learn, open to feedback, and motivated to contribute to team success while developing new skills.
