Position Overview: The Sr. Strategy Analyst, Middle Market supports the implementation of short- and long-term strategies that drive the financial objectives of the business unit. This role focuses on coordinating with strategy leadership and team members, preparing data-driven analyses, and contributing to projects that enhance portfolio performance. The Analyst works closely with internal Middle Market teams and cross-functional partners to gather insights, organize information, and deliver clear summaries that inform decision-making. This is a hands-on role requiring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks across different areas of the business. In This Role, You Will: Drive Strategic Planning Support: Contribute to the development of actionable plans aligned with strategic direction from leadership. Independently gather and analyze data, identify trends, and prepare research that validates ideas and supports long-term business objectives. Collaborate with subject matter experts across the organization to deliver quantitative insights and synthesize findings for senior leadership review. Perform Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data to support monthly reporting on topline and bottom-line performance. Apply intermediate financial analytics techniques—including forecasting, trend analysis, and variance decomposition—to generate insights and recommendations for senior team members. Support Industry Strategy Development: Provide analytical support to the industry team across general and specialized segments. Conduct structured industry research, perform trend and competitive analysis, and prepare actionable summaries that inform strategic decisions. Ensure accuracy and relevance of insights through close collaboration with Middle Market Strategy and industry specialists. Provide thought partnership to subject matters experts as an outside perspective on industry trends Analyze Geographic Market Dynamics: Lead research efforts on regional market trends to identify growth opportunities and portfolio risks. Partner with field underwriting leadership and strategy team members to produce data-driven reports that inform local initiatives and regional operating models. Interpret market signals and competitive indicators to support strategic planning. Apply Moderate Knowledge of Actuarial and Data Science Concepts: Demonstrate growing proficiency in actuarial principles and data science methodologies as they relate to pricing, portfolio performance, and strategic decision-making. Understand how complex models and outputs influence business outcomes and collaborate with technical experts to refine insights. Support Strategic Initiative Execution: Assist strategy leadership in identifying and executing annual priorities to improve the middle market portfolio. Take ownership of tracking initiative progress, maintaining documentation, and coordinating across teams to ensure timely delivery and alignment with strategic goals. Communicate Analytical Insights Effectively: Translate complex analytical concepts into clear, concise communications. Prepare and deliver presentations on key trends, initiative progress, and strategic recommendations to broader Middle Market leadership. Demonstrate strong written communication skills and developing executive presence. What You Need To Apply: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Professional designations preferred 4+ years of professional work experience with time in both the insurance industry and data/ analytics roles Solid analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data organization and basic analysis; willingness to learn advanced functions over time. Familiarity with SQL concepts and an interest in developing query-writing skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to create clear, concise presentations in PowerPoint. General understanding of the commercial insurance industry; exposure to Middle Market is a plus but not required. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with team members and build relationships across departments.
