Our Personal Lines Actuarial department is seeking an Actuarial Director or Manager (*or similar) to join our growing team in our Worcester, MA Corporate Headquarters, or remote work location consideration. *open to various levels This is a full time, exempt role. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Actuarial Director/Manager role is responsible for managing a team of pricing and modeling actuaries within our Personal Lines actuarial team. This team supports the enhancement of our homeowners pricing model (general linear models) and is responsible for driving improvement in a book of $0.8B of annual earned premium. The Actuarial Director/Manager role provides overall management and technical oversight to a team of analysts with varying degrees of experience and is expected to take on a more hands on approach when required. This role requires partnership across the Personal Lines actuarial team, as well as the broader organization including Personal Lines State Management, Underwriting, Product, Technology, and Finance. Direct responsibilities include managing annual model updates with an eye towards driving rating segmentation improvements, supporting product development, and leveraging analytics to advance homeowners pricing strategies and solutions. IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL: Lead in the annual update of the homeowners generalized linear model by-peril pricing model for use in rating across all states Manage and lead a team of actuarial analysts, ensuring execution of deliverables while navigating unanticipated situations Assess vendor products efficacy towards driving strategic improvements in pricing structure Collaborate with members of the Personal Lines Auto Pricing team to develop consistency and promote knowledge sharing Drive innovation across Personal Lines in monitoring and performance tracking of analysis and rating accuracy including bottom line impacts Be responsible for the professional development as well as performance and compensation management for your team Lead meetings in which you effectively integrate technical analysis and organizational strategy to business partners and upper management Influence and negotiate the appropriate actions to support strategic goals of the organization Understand external market forces, proactively share these with business partners and other relevant stakeholders, and incorporate into decision making May lead or participate in community recruiting and/or training activities WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a relevant technical field Seven+ years of technical experience in multiple LOB and/or actuarial disciplines such as pricing, reserving or advanced analytics Experience with predictive modeling preferred Minimum of 2 years in management capacity ACAS required, FCAS preferred Advanced communication skills Advanced programming skills (SQL, R) Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office, including Excel Demonstrated knowledge of all techniques used to model various assumptions Able to apply and interpret company policies and procedures Able to direct activities of others, motivate and develop staff CAREER DEVELOPMENT: It’s not just a job, it’s a career, and we are here to support you every step of the way.
