Assist with patient intake, schedule appointments, verify insurance, and support medical office operations.
High school diploma, 2+ years in a medical office, proficiency in EMR, excellent communication skills.
8am-4pm Monday – Friday with occasional Saturdays if needed Job Summary Minimum of two years' experience in a medical office required. You will be responsible for rooming patients, taking vitals, scheduling procedures, answering patient calls, scheduling patient appointments, verifying eligibility, calculating patients' responsibility and collecting deductibles, co-insurance and copays. You must have excellent customer service skills. EPIC experience is a plus. Minimum Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED License/Certification: Medical Assistant or obtain within 6 months of employment Experience / Knowledge / Skills: · Minimum two (2) years of experience in a medical office. Front office and back-office experience. Prior Gastroenterology experience a plus. · Ability to multi-task · Proficient typing/keyboarding skills with experience in the EMR. EPIC considered favorable · Excellent communication skills and friendly demeanor Principal Accountabilities · Answers patient and vendor calls and responds appropriately · Schedules patient appointments/procedures and enters required information in the computer system in an accurate and timely manner. Medical Assistant duties such as room patients, obtain vitals, stock exam rooms etc. · Obtains demographic, insurance and financial information from patient or guarantor. Enters information in computer system with a high degree of accuracy. · Explains all required forms to the patient or guarantor and obtains the necessary signatures. · Ensures medical necessity compliance by obtaining necessary data, reviewing Compliance System, communicating information to patient or guarantor and obtaining necessary signatures. · Protects the financial integrity of the medical office by collecting patient liability, establishing payment arrangements, discussing payment options and screening for eligibility. · Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits and ensures all notifications and authorizations are completed within the required timeframes. Calculates patient responsibility and collects copays, co-insurance and deductible. · Posts payments in the computer system and generates the appropriate patient receipts. · Monitors, reviews and resolves patient account issues on assigned reports. · Communicates in an effective and professional manner with Physicians, ancillary departments, physicians’ office staff, insurance companies, as well as patients and their families. Completes thorough and accurate documentation. · Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency · Demonstrates commitment to caring for our community · Other duties as assigned.
