About The Position Geneva is seeking an experienced and dynamic BD Lead to join our team. This role will support the ADBD in the identification, qualification, development, and execution strategies to expand Geneva’s research, development, and contracting portfolio across federal, non-federal, and industry partners. The BD Lead supports the full lifecycle of opportunity development, from identification and qualification through capture, proposal development, and pre- and post-award transition, while also serving as a relationship manager for assigned government and industry partners. The ideal candidate will combine strong capture strategy expertise with an ability to cultivate and maintain trusted relationships that strengthen Geneva’s reputation, expand partnerships, and enhance client satisfaction. This role is critical in driving the growth and expansion of Geneva’s federal research and development (R&D) and government contracting (GovCon) portfolio. This is a full time hybrid remote position with 3 days remote and 2 days in office in Bethesda, MD (DMV/NCR area). A government background check will be administered. Salary Range $90,000 - $120, 000. Salaries are determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate’s related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position. Qualifications Master’s degree required in a life sciences discipline, Public Health, or related field required 8+ years of experience in a BD and capture management role within medical research, pharmaceutical or clinical research industry Proven track record of winning R&D and GovCon in the DoD, Military Health System (MHS), and DHHS Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills Strong skills in strategic planning, including developing and implementing comprehensive capture strategies Established network of contacts within government agencies, prime contractors, and industry partners Understanding of the clinical research landscape, including pharmaceutical sponsors, Contract Research Organizations (CROs) Extensive experience in conducting targeted and effective searches with GovWin, SAM.gov, agency forecasts, IDIQs, etc. U.S. Citizenship required for government in-processing Responsibilities Drive all elements of BD and capture management pertaining to assigned opportunities, including taking GovCon opportunities through appropriate internal bid/no-bid gate reviews and “color team” proposal reviews. Develop effective collaborations with a range of industry and university partners to strengthen competitive positioning and increase Pwin on targeted opportunities. Partner with proposal, solution, and technical teams to translate capture strategies into clear, persuasive, and compliant proposal submissions. Support the ADBD with: BD Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive BD strategies to identify and pursue new opportunities. Conduct market research and analysis to stay current on industry and trends and identify potential clients and partners. Maintain ongoing awareness of relevant federal and non-federal funding opportunities, ensuring timely internal communication of new solicitations and alignment with Geneva’s portfolio priorities. Curate and distribute targeted funding opportunities through HubSpot or other CRM tools, ensuring relevant internal and external stakeholders are engaged with actionable information. Support management of the Geneva funding opportunities webpage by tracking open solicitations, updating deadlines to ensure information is current and accurate. Assist with the preparation and distribution of the weekly funding bulletin, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and strategic focus across all included opportunities. Attend local conferences, networking, and community events to identify new partners and funding opportunities; synthesize key takeaways and submit After Action Reports (AARs) to leadership. Capture Management: Use HubSpot to monitor ongoing capture efforts, update opportunity status, and document engagement activities to ensure leadership visibility and pipeline accuracy. Manage and coordinate the capture process, including developing internal gate reviews, proposals and presentations. Develop and manage project plans and timelines to ensure that capture activities are completed efficiently and effectively. Analyze and report on capture activities and results, including metrics such as win rate, revenue growth, and customer satisfaction. Lead capture efforts for opportunities, including developing capture plans, building and managing winning teams comprised of industry and university partners, and supporting the proposal development process. Relationship Building: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers within government agencies, prime contractors, and industry partners to facilitate business growth and enhance our competitive position. Represent Geneva at local industry events, conferences, and forums to enhance our visibility and establish thought leadership in the government contracting community. Conduct regular client engagement meetings and maintain detailed records of communications, ensuring continuity and relationship stewardship across portfolios. Synthesize client feedback and relay actionable insights to improve responsiveness and shape BD strategy. Pipeline Management: Build and manage a robust pipeline of opportunities, tracking progress and ensuring alignment with Geneva goals and priorities. Utilize HubSpot and relevant CRM tools to track and report on BD activities and outcomes. Ensure all HubSpot records are up to date, including opportunity stages, client interactions, and task follow-ups. Develop and implement a comprehensive capture strategy to identify and pursue new business opportunities that align with Geneva’s goals and objectives. Support internal reporting on pipeline metrics and updates, including new submissions and leads added, active pursuits, and funding trends. Coordinate across departments to ensure funding opportunity data and relationship intelligence are reflected consistently across HubSpot, internal trackers, and external communications. Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction. Coordinate with proposal managers to ensure seamless transition from capture to proposal development. Partner with portfolio managers and BD leadership to align captured opportunities with organizational capacity and research priorities. Support leadership with the development of talking points, briefings, and visual summaries of BD and client engagement activity.
