Director of Publishing/Content Production Company Overview Freedonia Group, Inc. (TFG) is the leading provider of global market intelligence products and services. Position Summary The Director of Publishing Production is responsible for the end-to-end production of Freedonia’s market research products, from project initiation through final release. This role ensures reports are produced on schedule, at scale, and to established quality standards. The Director of Publishing Production leads production staff, sets workflows and timelines, and works closely with analysts, editorial, marketing, and sales to support business objectives. The role balances people leadership, operational planning, and execution in a deadline-driven publishing environment. Key Responsibilities • Own the production lifecycle for all market research reports. • Set and enforce production standards, workflows, and timelines. • Lead and develop production staff, including managers and individual contributors. • Align production plans with editorial priorities. • Oversee resource planning, workload balancing, and capacity management. • Act as primary liaison between Production, Editorial, Marketing, and Sales. • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce risk. • Contribute to budget planning and monitor production-related expenses. • Support client satisfaction by ensuring timely delivery and responsiveness to content issues. Key Activities • Build and maintain master production schedules across all report lines. • Review project status regularly and resolve schedule or resource conflicts. • Manage report handoffs between analysts, editors, and marketing/sales. • Develop and maintain production documentation and style standards. • Establish clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback. • Monitor customer feedback related to report usability or presentation and coordinate fixes. • Collaborate with sales and marketing on delivery timing and special client requests. • Evaluate and improve tools, templates, and production systems. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in publishing, research, or operations. • Significant experience in report production and/or publishing operations. • Demonstrated success managing teams and complex production workflows. • Strong project management and organizational skills. • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. • Clear written and verbal communication skills. • Strong judgment and decision-making ability. • High attention to detail with a focus on consistency and quality. • Experience working cross-functionally with editorial, research, and commercial teams. Technical Skills • Strong Excel and spreadsheet management skills. • Advanced document formatting and layout skills. • Experience with project management tools. • Comfort working with data tables, charts, and structured content. • Familiarity with survey outputs and quantitative content preferred. Performance Measures • On-time delivery rate of reports and updates. • Adherence to production quality and formatting standards. • Accuracy and consistency of final published materials. • Effectiveness of resource and capacity planning. • Internal stakeholder satisfaction across editorial, research, and sales.
