Director of Logistics Houston, TX Our client, an industry leader in freight transportation services, is seeking a Director of Logistics. With a focus on exceptional customer service and operational excellence, this role is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for the logistics function of the company. This Director oversees a team of twelve professionals located throughout Texas, including the Dispatcher and Pusher teams. These teams perform dispatch, load planning, routing, customer coordination, and customer service. Additionally, this leader will drive continuous improvement and ensure the team is operating effectively with efficient scheduling, routing, and coordination of deliveries to maximize operational efficiency while maintaining high standards of service quality and adhering to safety and regulatory standards. Responsibilities: • Lead a team of dispatchers, logistics, and operations personnel, providing guidance, critical thinking, process improvement, training, and performance evaluations to ensure high levels of productivity and morale while also communicating across departments and with upper management. • Oversee daily dispatch operations to ensure loads are scheduled, routed, and executed on time in a cost-effective and efficient manner. • Manager customer relationships, including understanding their delivery needs, addressing inquiries in a timely manner and resolving issues related to scheduling and deliveries with a high level of customer service. • Ensure all operations comply with federal and state regulations, including DOT guidelines and company policies. • Utilize logistics software (PCS TMS) to develop and implement effective prioritization and routing strategies that minimize costs and maximize delivery efficiency. • Foster driver engagement and trust while demonstrating the confidence to push back or course-correct when operational or compliance issues arise. • Monitor and analyze logistics KPIs, such as delivery times, route optimization, equipment operating ratio, company beneficial miles driven, and driver performance, implementing improvements as necessary. • Continuously monitor demand and proactively rebalance fleet resources across regions to align capacity with customer needs. • Assist in the development and management of the logistics budget, identifying areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements. • Quickly address and resolve operational challenges, such as vehicle breakdowns or route changes, to minimize disruptions. • Develop and implement logistics policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency. • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices, implementing innovative solutions to enhance operational performance. Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. • Minimum of 10 years of experience in logistics or transportation management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. • Proven track record of building and leading high-performing logistics or dispatch teams. • Ability to effectively manage remote teams located in Robstown and Jourdanton, Texas • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills. • Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on operational leadership. • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making. • Familiarity with logistics management software, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. • Thorough understanding of transportation regulations and safety standards. • Must be on-call as needed
