This position is a temporary assignment. As a contractor, you’ll be employed by Magnit, not The Cigna Group or any subsidiaries of The Cigna Group. This Advisor position is opened for an EDI Specialist Engineer. Location preferred is either in Missoula, MT or Plano, TX or remote but available to work in Mountain Timezone with the rest of the team. Job Responsibilities • Participate actively in story grooming, estimation, sprint planning, PI planning, daily standups, sprint demos, and retrospectives to support predictable delivery and team alignment. • Review and understand low-level designs before implementation, asking clarifying questions to ensure requirements, dependencies, and technical assumptions are well understood. • Design, develop, enhance, test, deploy, and maintain EDI applications, integrations, automation workflows, and supporting services based on business and technical requirements. • Develop clean, maintainable, secure, and scalable code that follows established engineering standards, DevOps practices, and quality expectations. • Schedule and participate in code reviews for each story, incorporating feedback to improve quality, consistency, maintainability, and knowledge sharing across the team. • Diagnose underlying problems related to data integrity. • Use SQL Server to access information systems to provide information support. • Meet with end users to discuss the required information to be extracted from the database or source files. • Design, develop and support a wide variety of information deliverables in both ad-hoc and production fashion. • Works with database systems to ensure effective data security and integrity are in place at all times. • Ensures solutions meet business objectives, and establishes and maintains a high level of user trust and confidence in IT’s knowledge of and concern for users’ business needs. • Proactively researches and locates necessary tools and processes to identify troublesome trends as they develop. • Makes decisions that are critical in the areas of throughput analysis, problem solving, and infrastructure planning with the potential to affect the successful execution of business transactions. • Participates in various IT projects intended to continually improve and upgrade the EDI infrastructure. • Analyze existing EDI processes and identify opportunities to automate repetitive manual tasks, improve operational efficiency, reduce defects, and increase reliability for business applications (Including base definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements and operational guidelines). • Contribute to the daily workflow with regular and punctual attendance. • Performs software and operating system tests. • Organize files and reference materials. • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance engineering practices, application quality, system performance, and team productivity. The EDI Specialist Engineer would be responsible for the design, development, enhancement, support, and maintenance of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) applications, integrations, and data exchange processes that support business operations. The position leverages technologies such as GoAnywhere MFT, SQL Server, SSMS, EDI standards, automation tools, scripting languages, and other development platforms to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure solutions. The EDI Specialist Engineer partners with business stakeholders, product owners, analysts, and engineering teams to analyze requirements and translate them into technical solutions that improve operational efficiency and data integrity. This role is responsible for designing and developing EDI capabilities, enhancing existing applications, and implementing automation to eliminate repetitive manual processes and improve throughput, quality, and reliability. They will be an individual contributor on an agile team undertaking tasks like file error troubleshooting, testing, maintaining and debugging new and current EDI applications. An ideal candidate for this position would proactively identify opportunities to modernize and automate EDI processes while ensuring compliance with security, privacy, and organizational standards. Additional Skills • Effective oral and written communication skills. • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others. • Ability to project a professional image and positive attitude in any work environment. • Ability to comply with privacy and confidentiality standards. • Ability to be flexible, work under pressure and meet deadlines. • Working knowledge of general office procedures. • Working knowledge of SQL server databases and RESTful APIs, Messaging Patterns such as Queues/Topics and/or streaming technologies like Kafka. • Experience with Transact-SQL • Experience developing and supporting EDI transactions and integrations. • Experience with source control systems such as Git/Azure DevOps. • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. • Knowledge of healthcare EDI standards (X12 834, 835, 837, 270/271, 276/277) preferred. • Experience with API integrations, file transfer technologies, and automation platforms. • Knowledge of applying Generative AI (GenAI) and agentic AI solutions to analyze,automate, and optimize manual standard operating procedures while maintaining appropriate human oversight, data privacy, security, and compliance controls. The incumbent is expected to communicate professionally with peers, supervisors, subordinates, vendors, customers, and the public, and to be respectful and courteous in the conduct of this position. Bachelors Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field with five years or more of prior work experience. Work Experience: Five years of experience or more in a related job and system support preferred. Hourly Pay Rate Range (dependent on location, experience, expectation)  The pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position is: $65.00/hour-$69.00/hour  Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K (provided minimum eligibility hours are met) We are unable to provide visa sponsorship or STEM OPT training.
